Vienna Born and raised Dj/Producer Arthur Robert, dedicated his whole life to making, playing, and teaching music. Defining his sound as direct, puristic, groovy, jungle, breakbeat, and Detroit-inspired. He sometimes differs from his typical techno style and merges his sound into breaks and electro. You can recognize his music identity as a mix of psychedelic elements with a hypnotic edge and a dance floor-driven approach. His entire career has been based on exploring the realms of electronic music in every aspect, from playing at clubs to teaching sound design and production to others. He finds it invaluable and creatively uplifting to teach others and learn from his students along the way.

This time we welcome Alex, co-founder of Electric Shapes label & party series in Lithuania, on our monthly „Sound Archives” broadcast on Radio Kapital! 

Alex is a Lithuanian DJ and a passionate digger! This time he has prepared a unique mix which opens up his eclectic nature. „While sharing the mix, I thought about how quickly everything in the world is changing. About the fact that there is nothing permanent. Also in music. In each of my selections, I try to include as many genres as possible and remain as eclectic as possible. Show more to the listener in one hour, but stick to one line. Sometimes I overdo it. This time was no exception. The first version contains hip hop, more ambient. But while searching, I felt that many things do not sound together. The second attempt at your trial, the gray sky of Vilnius, the sun peeking out from the corner, wet asphalt and the smell of smoke.” – says Alex.

To pass the atmosphere of the mix we’ve created an analogue cover made from epoxy resin.

Sound Archives #9 – Aleksandr L

Skankstasy (aka Wanda Gaimes) is a long-time member of the Berlin undercommons, known as a tireless rave agitator for @lllecken, the queer-feminist party series she co-founded in 2016, writer, curator, and more recently, DJ. Skankstasy is moved by everything that grooves, from grime to juke groove, as we see on this mix she's prepared for us. 

Raised in a post-socialist country starved for Western cultural goods, where every mixed tape had to be cherished like a treasure, she grew up in a household that listened to funk, soul and blues. Later, when she emigrated, her heart started beating for trip hop, hip hop and dub and only started raving to 4-to-the-floor beats much later in life. Behind the decks (or on the radio waves), Skankstasy likes to surf the sweet spot between different rhythms and grooves with an ambition to conjure "a future queer skank floor" and a deep appreciation for the diasporic roots of dance music.
