After our first collaboration (Capolinea https://soundcloud.com/copyc4t/capolinea-starting-terminus ) Fivos Valachis offered me to sing this wonderful song he composed on a poem by Konstantinos Kavafis.

As if this weren't already too good to be true (but alas, true it is!) Fivos asked Vicente Bueso to orchestrate the song. The combination of piano and strings alone is so magical that you better listen to it if you haven't yet!

The Head on the Door, released in 1985, brought back temporarily exiled bassist Simon Gallup, expanded the lineup to a five-piece, and resurrected some of the gothic gloom of the early '80s Cure without dispensing with the band's since-cultivated pop smarts. The result was the crystallization of the classic Cure sound, a sound the group would conquer '80s suburbia with. “A Night Like This” could be offered up as a prime example of what the Cures is perceived to be by the general public: dour, tragic, and oppressively distraught. One of Robert Smith's most powerful romantic laments, there's a violent undercurrent to the music that adds extra bite to his rueful words.
