Paul Woolford returns to Hotflush with ‘Mother & Child’, his third solo outing on the label following the inescapable anthems, ‘Untitled’ and ‘MDMA’.

‘Mother & Child’ sees Woolford explore a different style and more cultivated mood. Comprised of two variations on a theme, the lead cut combines both sostenuto and clipped strings in an overarching and evolving melody. There’s a sense of menace and foreboding, yet the record’s heart belongs, as ever, strongly to Woolford’s home turf - the dance floor. This newfound contemplative air is brought to the fore on ‘Mother & Child Divided' as he strips back all rhythmic elements to leave a beautifully sprawling tapestry of strings and synths; alluring, dramatic and cinematic in scope. One hopes this mother and child find each other again...

Berlin artist Marius Maier, better known among disciples of the beat as Re.You, provides the latest release on Connected, the label owned by the Stereo MCs and Terranova. Maier has sculpted a signature true track EP alongside The Lazarusman, rendering two equally inimitable groovers. Today, only on When We Dip, you can check out the lead cut from the release in ‘They Vibed’. The former Mobilee, Souvenir and Kompakt has pieced together a slow-burning delight, which rides an crunchy, texturize drum and perc ensemble. The track is characterized by an engrossing low end element and a hypnotic flow from The Lazarusman.

AMBIVALENT is the monicker of DJ and producer Kevin McHugh: originally from the US, he has since found a new home base in Berlin where he produces trim and powerful techno for kinetic crowds. Accordingly, Ambivalent releases have found their way to classic dance imprints such as Ovum or Cocoon Recordings, and it’s with the latter that he recently found much acclaim for the „Daylights“ single, expanding a great run these past months with his La-4a analog project – now, he joins the Speicher ranks for SPEICHER 92: WHYOU is a rather muscular affair, boasting potent Moog riffs and a hungry TR 909. The flip side hosts a vigorous, hypnotic remix from Kompakt head MICHAEL MAYER – a personal hero of McHugh’s going back at least 15 years. Double headliner wax, with only the wheat and none of the chaff.

It’s been a pretty wild year for Marius Maier AKA Re.You, his live with Rampa debuting at Fabric at our label take over, plus dropping a massive 12” on Gigolo, plus solo releases on Avotre, Mobilee and of course his home away from home, Souvenir. This time round he brings the funk on ‘Insanity’ with a trademark, treated vocal serving from LIA. The track brings it real close, close enough for breath to from little droplets of condensation against a cold window. A niggling percussive interplay sends the track reeling all over the dancefloor, various creaks and whistles playing off each other until a solid bassline swoops in meaning business. What’s known in the industry as a straight weapon! ‘Lonely’ follows with a more frantic tempo, a small drum pattern loops, throwing you with its slightly skewed beat. Some techy snares build the tension while some off key chords supply the haunted melody.

On the flip Re.You brings it down a notch, going straight deep house. Again, his masterful use of ethereal vocal samples build both mood and drive the beat. An unintelligible phrase phasing out of sync until what seems like a percussive denouement, the bassline returning with gusto for a serious second round. ‘Closer’ gets a much more upbeat rework from Southern French producers Amine Edge & DANCE. They keep the vocal sample as a skeleton, but build up the track in much bubblier fashion, a playful synth line earworms while a chunky, dancefloor-friendly bassline punctuates the whole thing.


Re.You - Insanity feat. LIA

To work up a hunger is okay, but there sure are some good eats with Musik Krause. In February Metaboman will ‚krause‘ his debut album out. Beforehand, there is the digital apertif of two filling songs to taste and savor, served fresh from Krause Duo members. The one is a is to be taken and served alongside the main course. The other is here exclusively as an apetizer. What has been said about too many cooks ruin the dish isnt always the case.

Appetit holen ist ok, aber gegessen wird bei Musikkrause... Im Februar kraust Metaboman sein Debütalbum raus. Vorab gibt es als digitalen Aperitif  zwei gehaltvolle Lieder zum kosten und genießen vom Krause Duo Member frisch serviert. Das Eine wird auch zum anfassen &  verspeisen beim Hauptgericht angrichtet. Das Andere gibt es nur hier exklusiv als Vorspeise. Es heisst: Viele Köche verderben den Brei. Das stimmt nicht, zumindest nicht in der Musik. Zu jedem Stück hat sich Metaboman Gastköche in seine Küche geladen.

Musik Krause, das Label mit dem besonderen Funk und Weitblick veröffentlicht das vierte Album in seiner zehnjährigen Geschichte. Der Kreis schließt sich. Denn 2002 startete man mit Metaboman. Jetzt liegt sein Album vor. 
Als Teil des auflegenden Krause Duos erlebt er sämtliche Eskapaden der Feierkultur. Schöpferisch gehen sie dabei keineswegs den geraden Weg. Sie haben eine ganz eigene Metaphorik entwickelt, eben Krauzy Schrouse And Trashno. 
Auch wenn auf dieser Langspielplatte ordentlich mit angezogener und gelöster Handbremse geschroust wird, der beliebt berüchtigte Krause-Vibe in jedem Taktschlag mitswingt, schmiedet hier Metaboman Solo die Eisen. Er möchte weitergehen, sich treiben lassen und vor allem als Liveprojekt mit lieb gewonnenen Musikern die Bühnen bassmassieren. Krause Duo bleibt Krause Duo.

Musik Krause, the label with that special funk and the wide view releases the fourth album in their 10-year history. The circle is complete. In 2002 they started with Metaboman. Now there is the album.
As a part of the record-spinning Krause Duo he's known a number of escapades having to do with the 'bash' or rather party culture. Inventively they go about things on a winding path. The have a developed a completely singular metaphoric like a Krauzy schroud and trashno effect.
Even if on this long player there is a good deal of gravitation and disengaged handbrake, the beloved notorious krause-vibe swings in every beat, as Metaboman forges the iron. He wants to go further and let himself be taken away, and above all with the musicians he has won over with his live-project to massage the masses from the stage. Krause Duo remains.
