2016 has unquestionably been another remarkable year for Polish outfit Catz ‘N Dogz. With their ‘Basic Colour Theory: Remixed’ album receiving an array of support from the industry’s leading names, the ‘Upsi Bubsi’ EP which followed in May showcased a different style of their musical prowess. Never showing any signs of stalling when it comes to their music output, Catz ‘N Dogz proudly announce their latest EP titled ‘It’s Happening/Our Crazy’ set for release this November.

With the EP drawing influence from varying styles, the opening track ‘It’s Happening’ fuses together elements of house and disco creating an assured dance floor ready production. Bound together by an infectious bassline and catchy vocal sample, ‘It’s Happening’ has regularly featured in Catz ‘N Dogz sets over the summer becoming a favorite in clubs and festivals across the globe.

Providing a more hypnotic and raw offering than its counterpart, ‘Our Crazy’ once again demonstrates Catz ‘N Dogz unparalleled ability to conjure productions from opposite ends of the musical spectrum. The metronomic synth tone that flutters throughout is perfectly complimented by a driving 4/4 kickdrum creating yet another resounding track in Catz ‘N Dogz catalogue.

After two new EPs released last year on Pont Neuf Records and Jimpster’s label Delusions of Grandeur, both supported by many producers such as Joe Goddard (Hot Chip), Horse Meat Disco or Adryiano, Cosmonection is back on Pont Neuf with a new EP Odyssey. This new maxi from the Parisian producer presents an ever more mature sound universe by confirming its attachment to a deep house sound with many Balearic euphoria influences and a more retro-futuristic approach, synthesized with hushed melodies and warm afro rhythms.

It all starts with "Midnight", a deliciously dreamy, mesmerizing hypnotic and spacy introduction, featuring the sweet and light voice of the Russian Brazilian singer Gystere. "Odyssey" leads us to the heat with a multi-phase and resolutely headlining track, driven by the 909’s groovy rhythm and a series of synthesizers creating an irresistible tension. The second part of the maxi opens with "Lost Islands", a true Balearic and warm escape with bouncy bass and piano chords that leave no other choice than dancing to its listener. Then comes "Feelings", with a deeper and more efficient deep house atmosphere via a dubby approach where the pads merge beautifully with the clattering percussion of the track. Finally, "Solstice" presents another collaboration, this time with Tour-Maubourg where the universes of the two producers combine together, with an ambitious mix of genres where Cosmonection’s spacy and groovy touch meets the melancholic jazzy-house sound from the other promising producer of the new French house scene.

Four heavy cuts showcase the childhood friends’ unique ability to blur the lines between dance music
sub-genres.

First up: ‘Area 39’ delves into heritage UK dance culture, where the old school sounds that filled the speakers of Sheffield’s clubs in the nineties take full control. Enormously raw drum breaks meet classic rave stabs and high-pitched vocal sampling for a full-fledged joy ride.

‘Cuba’ comes next, with a dirty rolling sub-bassline hard at work under a jackin’ 909 drum groove. The track peaks with a hardcore influenced Korg M1 piano. Hooky and unapologetic, it drives the track up to the outer stratosphere.

‘The Comedor’ is an emotion-laden banger that packs a massive punch. Bright, hooky synth chords lead the charge with diced up vocal snippets time-stretching over the drop until a full-pelt, breaks driven drum groove takes hold. A high energy club pumper, primed for peak time slots.

‘Jura’ closes the EP with deep, driving techno sounds from the offset. AMF pair diligent breaks with fat drum machine grooves and perfectly filtered chord stabs for this end-of-night instrumental wonder.
