A song about looking for the sun, even during the storm.

It started with drone style tunings on a favourite old nylon string guitar and this song popped up almost fully formed immediately.

Solo it started out as an acid-folk thing, but when taken to the band it changed completely into a hybrid psych-shoegaze-funk-rock-madchester banger! It's the kind of full-on up tune we've wanted to do for a while now, with Chris's insistent break beat that got us all jumping - it's one of the most fun things to play.

The final, fuzz-soaked section is a mighty band jam led by Holly's driving bass - an example of the improvised grooves we play during our live sets amongst the songs. Here's to all the Sun Queens...a celebration of warmth, kindness and vitality everywhere.

Song for the Sun Queen is the first of a series of singles the band are releasing, leading to an EP coming out in February 2025. Released on all major digital and streaming services by Lincolnshire record label Old Tin Box Recordings. The song will be soundtracking an independent film to be released in 2025.

Song For The Sun Queen

“You know you have all the right words…”

1999 is a dreamy, vintage synth track with a shimmering halo. Chris created the drum and synthesized layers for this track using equipment from the late 90s, namely the Yamaha Cs2x and DJX II. The sound they produced reminds him a lot of the pre-millenial optimism he felt around that time, hence the title '1999'. Mark wanted the lyric to be a positive affirmation: it's important to remind ourselves we all deserve to be surrounded by love and kindness. Jimmy's lush slow-mo chords add to the ephemeral golden tone. For the video, Chris and Ez wanted to capture a similar 90s feeling, so all the footage was shot in and around Lincolnshire using handheld camcorders from that era. The feathers fluttering at night on the Humber Bridge hint at one of those nights coming back from clubbing at Gatecrasher or Cream in a Metro with crap heating.

Distrussed is about banishing snakes so that our children can laugh and run freely. The band wrote and recorded a rough take of it on the night a certain prime minister was dethroned within the shelflife of an iceberg lettuce. Holly’s bass curls around the tune, while Mark’s lyrics capture holding on for more positive times, backed by Esme’s ethereal vocals.

“I’ve been searching, for all the pieces.” Diving was recorded late at night out in the woods. It is a stuttering road trip lyrically inspired by author Jeff Noon’s diseased-information-overload novel, ‘Falling Out of Cars’. All the different layers of sound and information filtered through delay, reverb and tremolo into this one song recorded over a winter’s night.

1.Meaning 'Kindness is strength'.

The song was borne out of experimenting with tunings, delays and frequencies to try and capture the sounds we hear when out in the county of Lincolnshire. In a world where we are increasingly made to feel divided Corasandel believes that kindness is the new rebellion. One you can dance to.

Unison Mix is the first digital single from Corasandel’s debut five track EP, All The Hours Are One released on 26 April 2019.

The song builds on the band’s fascination with reverb and delay; a desire to mix experimental ambient textures with a driving three minute charge that draws on their love of the Cocteau Twins, Slowdive and early Mercury Rev. 

Written and recorded during the turmoil and division in the UK and across the world last year, Unison Mix lyrically strives to find common ground between people, looking for positivity. Alone we are vulnerable, together the world does not have to end.
