Corbettjazz: Born in Wilmington N.C. at the early age of 12 was introduce to the music called "Jazz", by brother. It was energetic and alive with personality and rich with artistry. Once bitten, Corbettjazz became passionate about jazz and it compelled him to learn how to play this form of music. Having a love for the piano, he chose this poison. His inspirations include; George Duke, Chick Corea, Ramsey Lewis, Jeff Lorber, Jean-Luc-Ponty, Joe Samples, Billy Cobham, Stanley Clarke, Weather Report, Yellowjackets just to name a few. Jazz is undefined. Jazz is an attitude and mostly spontaneous. That is what separates it from other music. Jazz musicians are spontaneous composers versed in the art of theme and variations, counterpoint wizards, rhythmic voodoo doctors, melodic swans, creating what has yet to be created, constantly searching, assimilating and birthing a new music child. Majority of Corbettjazz music has jazz elements, as well as funk, R&B, Latin, African, pop and straight ahead. The important message here is the freedom of creativity and thought. Corbettjazz says: Jazz is a lifetime journey in which you are constantly out to sea searching for a new horizon abroad. My dreams are to keep the sounds of "Jazz" alive into the next millennium with my own style while interrupting different genres of music. My music is kind of outside the box and every new experience brings me closer to musical bliss. I want the vibe to be melodic, rhythmic and soulful. I use a lot voice samples and things to punctuate and add color to the compositions. I kind of add some grease, grits and funk to thicken of the sauce, adding horns , guitars, strings and things for the spice and sweetness. That's the only way I feel jazz music will truly evolve and become an extension of what became before. "Jazz" has many names: Jabo, Java, Jazpation, Jazynco, Jazorient, Jazanola, Jazanata, Jazarella, Jazanjaz, Jazette, Jazitis, Jazioso, Jazzology and of course "Corbettjazz"
