I did this mix (all vinyl) back 2 back with a friend (Alec) in May 2007. There's no real hidden gems here (at least not nowadays), just a selection of some favourite tunes from that classic 90's era that most of you will already know as having heard them in many more mixes currently knocking around the Internet. The majority are from the 80 AUM sub-labels (incl. a still to this day quite underplayed "Unknown Species" record) that Scorpio, Producer, Jay Prescott and Clarkee hammered in the Technodrome. There's also the obligatory Deathchant and a classic slice of Austrailian 8bit Amigacore (a Clarkee favourite that you've already put the name to) to round things off. Anyway, I thought I'd post this mix again on a accessible platform, the last time being on USH (now there's a blast from the past). It seemed to garner some alright comments back then so hopefully it can still be enjoyed today by those like myself who are still obsessed with the 90's era.

Core25 & Gigabeat B2B - Technodrome Classics Mix (May 2007)

“Something for your mind” ...

All vinyl mix partly inspired by Dolphin sets, in particular from a couple of Vibealite events (trainspotters will recognize which) so it’s safe to say it’s definitely on the trancier tip. There’s some tunes I haven’t heard in any other (Hardcore) mixes and of course a few classics thrown in for good measure. Mostly 96/97 records with a few older ones, as far back as ‘92 (if the rumor mentioned on Discogs is true). I feel like I should add a Disclaimer here just to say that there is some 45 button bashing but kept in the minus range so not quite as fast as they’ve appeared on some Producer/Scorpio sets. 

Hopefully that’s piqued your curiosity enough to warrant a listen and thanks in advance if you take the time to do so, always appreciate it.

Core25 - Hardcore Techno Trance Mix

"No one here knows of the Avatar" ...

All vinyl mix inspired by the acid laced sets of Clarkee using records from 94 - 99. I was hesitant to label this a Tribute mix due to the absence of some of the London Acid Techno tunes that were played pitched up but it has a good chunk of the other ones littered throughout the first half (including those on the 45 selection). The second half strays into more familiar Hardcore Techno territory, bringing with it a plentiful supply of 303's. As everyone knows Clarkee's own label Area 51 had many tunes dipped in acid but I've kept those to a minimum as they've already been well represented in some other excellent mixes on here. No doubt lots of tunes you're familiar with but maybe some new discoveries as well.

Core25 - Hardcore Techno Acid Mix

All vinyl mix of Hard Acid and Acidcore using records predominantly from the 93/94 period and the remaining ones spanning the next few years with a somewhat oddball (time-frame wise) plucked from 2008. Compiled into two parts with the first half being escorted through the grungy lowlands by two gentlemen named McBride and Reece, en-route to the Acid Asylum situated deep in the woods of Gundsø, East Denmark (hopefully before complete Blackout). The second half takes a much darker turn as you arrive at your destination... Panicy and with a much Enabled Sense of dread. Here you are taken into custody of M.D. Spivey and Dr. Anderson, stamped with the code "1010303" and dragged down the cold metallic Passages of LAB42 wing where you are thrown into your Padd and the door with it's reinforced Titanium Steel Screws is closed. In your cell you are administered daily with large doses of original high grade Sandoz acid until the constant 303 Abuse sends you into a permanent Lysergic nightmare where you know you shall never see another dawn. You'll also Spy a stone cold classic along your trip which all these years later still has the propensity to melt faces.

If that little story (containing a partial track list for you trainspotters) evokes the slightest hint of an (evil) grin then it might be worth a listen so thanks in advance if you do, I appreciate it.

Core25 - Acidcore Asylum Mix (90's Hard Acid / Acidcore)

"You want the key?" 
"You're sure you wanna be free?"

22 track mix (vinyl) of mostly UK style Acid Techno (with dark undertones) from all the usual labels - Smitten, Stay up Forever, Cluster, Routemaster etc and a German invasion for the first few tunes. Lightly garnished with a few well loved classics amongst some of the more underrated tunes and more importantly (depending on taste of course) no vocal sing-along "hits". Trainspotters will recognize the opening tune as a nod to one of Clarkee's (slower) acid sets and the last tune from a certain Mastervibe Skelter set so might be worth a listen if only for that reason alone.

Core25 - 90's Acid Techno Mix

"Tune in, turn on, drop out, tune in... tune in... tune in... tune in... tune in"

A 34 track vinyl mix weaving through Acid Trance, Hard Trance and Trance using records from the mid to late 90's on labels such as Drizzly, Time Unlimited, Noom, Harthouse, and Eve/Telica to name a few... eagle eyes will spot the rest in the pic. I didn't intend for it to be quite this long but I suffered from the very relateable "problem" whereby you can't decide which tunes to leave out. Hopefully some of you will stick around for the long haul and enjoy the journey which has a few nods along the way to Dolphin's trance sets and a single tip of the hat to Clarkee which many of you will already know exactly which tune. The last section (briefly) represents some of that UK Hard Trance/Trancecore sound from the Stage One Music camp (FDN/xy2).

Core25 - 90's Acid Trance/Hard Trance/Trance Mix

"Living is what scares me, dying is easy" ...

20 track mix of mostly Fifth Era tunes bar for three (one of which is a split with Fallen Angel) and another is the outro. The Samples were added (crudely) to the beginning and end of the mix after it was recorded (vinyl) and come from one of the many memorable scenes in the British (2004) film, Dead Man's Shoes (a personal favorite) as I feel it fits the whole Fifth Era ethos and mood pretty well... hopefully any potential listeners will think so too.

Core25 - Dead Man's Shoes [Fifth Era] Doomcore Mix

"Welcome into the future, rise up into the sky, ecstasy obsession, your minds are mine tonight."

23 track vinyl mix of mostly Doomcore records from '91 - 2007 with the remaining few perhaps better described as Darkcore (earlier definition) courtesy of Celsius, Dr. Macabre and TOA (DJ Hidden in this case) from 2002/03 period. There's some classics from PCP/Dance Ecstasy 2001/Acardipane/Cold Rush Records with the oldest tune still able to cause 'Kaos' when played today. UK Doomcore/(dark) Hardcore is represented by a couple of the Underground Music labels; BMR & "Who is behind the... " plus the Crossbones crew of course and it would be Strange not to have an Irish input aswell.

Core25 - Welcome Into The Phuture Doomcore Mix

"Our children's minds are poisoned with filth"

26 track mix (always vinyl only) of Industrial Hardcore/Speedcore with some tunes summoned from the dark gothic realm... "aidez moi, aidez moi, aidez moi". The majority of records come from the classic mid to late 90's period plus a handful from post 2000. Plenty of tracks from France as one would expect to represent this style... Radium, Micropoint, Hardcoholics. Sarin Assault etc and Germany of course (ASF, E-De-Cologne, The Speed Freak).. not forgetting some UK artists as well. Partly inspired by The Music Maker sets in the Technodrome, particularly one from '98 (Helter Skelter Timeless) which many will know just from the sample quoted at the top. 

Note: Despite the intro, I have absolutely no affiliation with the Furry's but I am "into the weird" stuff... when it comes to music :D

Core25 - Industrial Hardcore & Speedcore 1995 - 2008 Mix

"Do not play with forces you don't understand or you will suffer the consequences".

27 track mix, all vinyl (except the intro) tribute to The Enticer and Sunjammer who I feel have always been somewhat underappreciated particularly in the scene today. Having looked regularly on here for a number of years, only 1 or 2 tracks have appeared together in the same mix so I thought it would be a good time to do a dedicated set.  I'm obviously excluding The Enticer's own live set at Live Evil vs Prspct a few years back and the older ones (pre 2010) that aren't currently on here plus Sunjammer's amazing live sets at the mighty Species and the OSF in the early 00's.

Tracks feature from across the 4 releases on The Enticer's own (short lived) label Hardcore Crossbreed Records (2001 - 2003), it's more Speedcore orientated sublabel Man@Arms, few from Fracture 4's label Bloodshed Unlimited (incl. one anomally that all trainspotters will notice) with the remaining  tunes made up from the French/Dutch release(s) and a remix from another quality homegrown [UK] label.

For me, their output at the time was totally unique and still stands on it's own today with both artists proving that emotional melancholic melodies (more so Sunjammer in that case, The Enticer provided the evil streak) could coexist with brutal/nasty and often downright dirty Hardcore Techno across a wide range of bpms with many tunes sitting comfortable at the Industrial end of the spectrum. I'm sure there are many who'll agree with the sentiment when I say they are sorely missed in the scene today... maybe someone or something can "entice" a return and we'll see those names on vinyl once again.

Core25 - The Enticer vs. Sunjammer [Hardcore Crossbreed Records] Tribute Mix

32 track all vinyl only (as usual) mix starting off with mostly UK Hardcore Techno records (incl. breakbeats) from the early 00's with a brief excursion into DnB around the mid-point before progressing into more Industrial tones for the second half, alongside a few hits of acid for good measure. No doubt some tunes will be recognizable from sets at North and Species during that period by DJ's such as Traffik/Deathmachine etc. In contrast to that, there's some underrated and definitely underplayed tunes, particularly one EP from Down Under released on the Hardline Rekordingz label, a real forgotten gem which is perhaps best described in the words of Mark N. as "Austere Industrial Hardcore and Acidcore." 

I didn't intend for the mix to be this long but they always have a habit of expanding and evolving over time as I'm sure many others here can relate to. Hopefully any potential listeners who "buy the ticket and take the ride" will stay on the journey until they arrive at the destination... so a big thanks to anyone who takes the time to check it out, it's always much appreciated.

33 track all vinyl mix of mostly Early Terror to Speedcore and Early Hardcore of a dark nature, including some of the old 90's favourites alongside some lesser played tunes. eg. "you did the whispering to yourself... " and a handful or so from post 2000 (no later than '05). It's fair to say there's a gothic atmosphere at many points, provided by one record in particular that all the trainspotters will already know from the image used and a brief crossover into Black Metal territory for the finale.

A 32 track all vinyl mix of classic [homegrown] Hardcore Techno/Gabba mainly from the late 90's and into the early 2000's with the majority of releases coming from Deathchant Records and Area 51 Recordings plus a few other well known classic UK labels (Social Parasite, Hardcore Mafia, Rebelscum) which of course featured many of the same/related artists. Inspiration for this mix came from the few days of nice weather we've had recently and the upcoming summer months so there's a bias towards more of the trancey chilled out (UFO) atmospheres with a strong hit of acid vibes throughout... so perhaps a mix more suitable for those sunny garden sessions.

Core25 - Technologikal Transmissions 96 - 2010 Mix (Deathchant / UK Hardcore Techno)

"Hey, why don't you stop dressing me up like a mailman and making me dance for you while you go and smoke crack in your bedroom and have sеx with some guy I don't even know on my dad's bed! What the hell are you talking about?"

40 track all vinyl (except the intro) mix of classic 90's Gabber/Hardcore Techno mostly from the 80 AUM sub-labels that certainly did the rounds back in Helter Skelter's Technodrome and at North (amongst many others of course). Records used are almost exclusively from the 97/98 period with maybe less than a handful released in the following year or so. As you would expect there's a fair amount of 45 (rpm) action going on as was order of the day (at least here in the UK) for the vast majority of these Dutch tunes with Don Diablo and his alter ego "The Raven" on Re-fuse Records featuring prominently which the trainspotters will instantly know inspired the title of the mix. Coming from the 80 Aum stable of course means there's tracks from the much loved (in the UK) Dutch duo Kesj & Donut who for me still have a certain air of mystique due to the very little info available about them. There's a slight shift as you pass the mid-point into some uniquely flavoured "cartoon-core" (don't know if anyone else hears it the same way :D) courtesy of the mighty Tieum, with a couple of tracks I've rarely if ever heard on any tape pack (of course your mileage may vary). No surprises that a couple of DC's have sneaked in too.

Tracklist is pretty much shown in the pic but always more than happy to answer specific ID's, not that it's needed in this case as I'm sure you all know them. As always, many thanks to anyone who takes a listen, your time is always much appreciated... I was intent on keeping this well below 2 hours but that quickly went out the window.

Core25 - Gabber Of The 90's 'Re-fuse To Lose' Mix

Mixes are all vinyl only. Setup is a pair of turntables and basic no frills mixer... archaic certainly but I like to keep things simple :D

Been into Hardcore Techno/Gabber since '97 after getting a DJ Producer Dreamscape 23 tape and Bass Generator Hardcore Heaven Ravers Choice. Same year found a Thunderdome 1 -5 Megamix CD and discovered the Mokum series which is where my love for harder music began.

A few years later after listening to all the usual suspects found on any Technodrome lineup and events like Deathrow Techno, North etc, I started buying the tunes. Always favoured the acid laced Clarkee sets and Trance infused Dolphin ones but love all of them including "the Mu... the Mu... the Music Maker" for more 'outthere' Industrial/Speedcore stuff. Still have the same passion and level of enjoyment digging for tunes especially unsolved ID's and forgotten/hidden gems.

Subsequent years leaning towards Hard Acid & Acidcore for the more insanity inducing extreme 303's and generally darker atmosphere from the likes of Lasse Steen, Somatic Responses, Zekt, Agro, Drop Bass Network, Direct Drive, Labworks and the swamp-like-grungy acid on Cologne's DJ.Ungle Fever.
A soft spot for Mark EG, M-Zone & Vortex Hard Trance. Also the UK mish-mash Acid Trance/Hard-Nrg/Hard House sound... VCF, Choci's Chewns, Bosca Beats, Public House, Eve/Telica etc, Acid Techno - tend to stick to the 90's stuff I grew up with and Classic Trancecore - so a bit of everything really.

Much greater appreciation now for Techno/Trance & Acid spun by the likes of Aggressor, Warlock, Aztek, Colin Faver, Colin Dale, Mach 1, Trevor Rockcliffe, Daz Saund and Ribbz of course. I enjoy listening to these sets a lot more now that I'm older than I did the first time around and it opens up a whole new world of tunes to hunt down.
