Following up from his recent EP on Livity Sound, Jurango brings a heavyweight cut to the Pressure Dome imprint with a contribution to their third compilation. 

Released on the 26th March, Pressure Dome will be donating all profits from the release to Community Care Package, a free food delivery service for anyone who can’t get out or afford fresh fruit and veg during the pandemic. Thereafter, profits will go to Caring in Bristol, a homeless charity providing services and shelter for those in most need. The compilation also tracks from Pluralist, Suze, Roy Mills, MISH & McGregor, Human Resources, Mistareez, Outsider, and Ido Plumes.

Premiere: Jurango - Tracking Matter [Pressure Dome]

Rinse France resident RONI launches her own imprint Nehza Records, named after the animated film ‘Nezha Conquers the Dragon King’ by Wang Shuchen published in 1979. The first release is an EP from Bordeaux-based member of the Super Daronne collective, Neida. Bringing RONI’s fantasy-led vision to life, Neida draws from the 90s UK rave scene with orchestral-like vocals, downtempo breaks, crisp percussions and acid basslines. 

‘For All The Time Sake’ is the final track of the record, rounding off the EP on a light, vibrant note as we head into the warmer, brighter months.

Premiere: Neida - For All The Time Sake [Nehza Records]

Club Glow return with their second vinyl release, this time from the mighty Borai. Entitled ‘Need U’, the EP will be released this Friday 2nd April and is limited to 300 copies via Bandcamp and very selected physical record stores. The crew have slated it as ‘Borai at his very best. Over the course of four-tracks, Borai leads with euphoria on ‘Need U’ and ‘Step Off’ but as the record flips, we’re taking the faster, darker side to Borai’s productions with the aptly named ‘Shadow Law’ and the 160-tip ‘Yellow’, as premiered here. 

The release is a presentation of the next installment for the label and we’re excited to see where they take us next. 2020 was an excellent year for the crew who celebrated their own individual successes, landing on labels such as Lobster Theremin, Hooversound, Cheeky Sneakers, and more as well as Club Glow being nominated as Breakthrough Label in DJ Mag’s Best Of British awards.

Basside brings the sass to Sorry Records. 

5 years in the making, Miami Bass duo Basside return to Brooklyn label Sorry Records with ‘FUCK IT UP’ for their second EP, out tomorrow. The six-track release is entirely produced by SOPHIE after inviting them to her studio in LA in 2016 following seeing the duo at Miami ii Points Festival. All six tracks were produced during that session. 

Basside are childhood BFFs Que Linda and Caro Loka who have been local Miami legends for a while now, having been performing since 2015. Bringing their booty-rattling bass to the masses, the duo have shared stages with Miami Bass icons such as L’Trimm and 2 Live Crew and released their first self-titled EP in 2017, also on Sorry Records and was later remixed by label affiliate Drummy.

The tracks featured on the ‘FUCK IT UP’ EP have long been fan favourites and supported within sets from PC Music founder A. G. Cook, Charli XCX, Jimmy Edgar, and Machinedrum, as well as SOPHIE herself including them in her DJ sets at the likes of Primavera Sound and Miami’s Ultra Music Festival. 

In a previous interview with Crack Magazine, the duo mentioned that they want their music ‘to make people feel loose, empowered, sexy… but also make them laugh a little bit’ which is certainly showcased throughout ‘FUCK IT UP’ - the last track ‘CRAZY EXPENSIVE’ is the ultimate power anthem, reminding you to know your worth.

In the wake of SOPHIE’s passing, Basside and Sorry Records have decided to finally share these tracks, leading with SOPHIE’s remix of NYC2MIA - a track that was previously released on Basside’s 2017 self-titled EP. The rework combines SOPHIE’s signature hyperreal production style and Basside’s catchy, playful chant “New York to Miami/no bras, no panties”. It’s the perfect pairing. 

Talking about the timing of the release, Que Linda said to Miami New Times, "the passing of Sophie made us realize that time is short and we shouldn't wait any longer. We also wanted to give a gift to everyone that's heartbroken."

The proceeds from the single are being donated to Sylvia Rivera Law Project; a collective organisation that works to guarantee that all people are free to self-determine their gender identity and expression, regardless of income or race, and without facing harassment, discrimination, or violence.

Rizu X formally kicks off new NYC-based label Gone Baby with dizzying new cuts.

The EP is named after "Myokymia," which is the involuntary eye twitching that usually stems from stress, sleep deprivation, or caffeine. The production channeled the energy from the nightlife she was missing, mixed with the anxiety and codependency to technology and follows up her split EP on Cómeme, with Katerina.

The artwork by Alejandra Muñoz features a blue lotus, which was inspired by the blue lotus tea that Lizett was drinking at the time, which led to her having strange lucid dreams.

A hazy, hypnotic downtempo number from Professional Music label founder SPF 50. 

Picture the early morning sunrise peeking through the shutters and small window openings inside the club. The fog from the smoke machine and cigarette smoke reflecting in the rose-tinted lights. It’s warm, it’s sweaty and you’re two-stepping along in a trance-inducing march. This is the first image that comes to mind when listening to ‘Looking For Lost Cats’, taken from SPF 50’s forthcoming EP ‘Sumimasen’ on his own label Professional Music. It gives me butterflies, yearning for that euphoric early morning feeling. 

‘Sumimasen’ is the third release on Professional Music, spanning across 5-tracks of introspective body music and will be released on the 23rd April.

Here we have the exclusive stream of Pépé Elle’s ’Sink’, a sprawling hip-shaking dubstep-influenced number featuring jazzy, soulful elements. Based in Paris, Pépé is the co-founder of record label Aurore 404 and its sub-label 3 Feet Deep. He’s also one half of Flying Structures with NairLess - a techno/trance live project.

Premiere: Pépé Elle - Sink [[re]sources]

Edmonton-based producer and Kudatah co-founder Sven K returns to the label with an album of unearthed 'Classics'. All of the tracks have been taken from the period between 2013 - 2016, the time where Sven was making around 1 to 3 tracks a day, both at home and at Kudatah's first proper studio. It's a nostalgic trip, looking back at some of the earlier, formative days and showcases Sven's artistic development over the years.

Spanning ambient, footwork, experimental, and leftfield soundscapes, 'Swimmin' takes us back to the halcyon days of music blogs and artists taking over the internet with killer bootlegs and edits. The track samples chopped and screwed vocals from Frank Ocean's 'Swim Good', layered over a smoky, experimental/dub-infused hip hop instrumental. I can't quite put my finger on what it is, but 'Swimmin' captures the essence of that era so brilliantly.

In honour of International Worker’s Day / Labour Day, PowerPlay announce their new EP ‘Breaking Capacity’ with lead single ‘ACAB’.  The full release is slated for the 18th June, landing on New York label Sorry Records and features remixes from Escaflowne and Bored Lord. 

PowerPlay is comprised of C Powers and PlayPlay. The pair are both lifelong activists, with the former spending the last year and a half protesting on a near-daily basis. They wrote the track ‘ACAB’ long before last summer’s Black Lives Matter protests but is incredibly relevant to the current moment with everything that’s going on in the States and beyond. 

Georgia-born producer C Powers has previously released on Sweat Equity and Astral Plane Recordings’ label Contagion Discs add has become known for their in-your-face club records, from dark grungy garage to high NRG breaks. PlayPlay is based in New York and is inspired by the music they grew up listening to from 90s club anthems, jungle, classic house and old school hip-hop. A self-described longtime rave enthusiast, they’ve previously released on Knightwerk Records, where they also collaborated with Bored Lord and T5UMUT5UMU.

Northern smoothie Esqueezy joins London/Brighton trance team GODDEZZ with ‘Lose Control’ a euphoric slice of emo rave peppered with broken beats and barely there vocals, one of two tracks from her taken from the forthcoming GODDEZZ compilation COALESCENCE oo21, due for release on 28th May.  A Fruity Loops fan through and through with her tracks self-described "wonky experimental claptrap”, this latest offering is clear nod to her combined love for hallucinogenic breaks, silky house, and all things oddball.

Following releases including SEO John’s Dive EP, XL Order’s EMBRYO, last year's ON+ON+ON compilation, featuring 23 artists including Jabes, Tim Reaper, Adam Pits, Sarah Bates and more, this EP is the next outer-dimensional step for the crew. Premiere: Escaflowne - Emulation [Fixed Rhythms]

@moma_ready arrived on a wave of acclaim that hasn't at all subsided in the four or so years since his debut. The NYC-based skateboarder and musician runs the Haus of Altr label and also makes ambient, as well as films. He has had particular success producing with AceMo as AceMoMA, such as on April's standout album, A Future. As the title suggests, it took in the dustier end of 90s jungle, rough-edged house and Detroit techno, but turned out something forward-looking. Whatever MoMA Ready does, it comes through a proudly Afrofuturist lens, always with unbridled energy and the ability to make you question everything you thought you knew. 

This week's mix packs an awful lot in. It - of course - eschews the traditional model of a slow build towards a peak-time workout. Instead, the music just goes where MoMA wants, whenever he wants. Even the transitions play second fiddle to the selections, which is fine when the tunes are this good. Some are deep, some are smooth, there are lo-fi bangers and seductive rollers. It's the sound of a DJ going all in without a care in the world.

On the flip, Turizmo speeds ahead in a surprising 2-Step turn. Bright organ chords, a chunky bassline and hefty doses of swing amount to a sunny UKG belter in pure Fa style. Gateway To A 50 Bag then sees us out, a subversive rave-y skanker fit with killer melodies and sweeping synths before a delightful switch-up recalibrates its course in brilliant manner. A thrilling end to another knockout release from the boss-man.

Fio Fa - U Drink, U Pay EP (PEAR009)

The legendary Flowdan originally landed on the Canadian label Bare Selection in December last year with the powerful ‘Guilty As Charged’ EP. Now the label have pulled together a remix package of the project, bringing together veterans Roska and Marcus Visionary alongside rising stars Wize, Cassius Select and Lijah, who represent the worlds of UK funky, drill and leftield bass. 

Berlin-based producer Cassius Select takes on ‘Light Work’, taking the original 2-step influenced track to new heights, with twisted avant-garde drum patterns and rolling bass. Becoming quite the prolific producer, this remix follows releases in Banoffee Pies Records, Slink, and Edited Arts. 

Since launching in 2018, Bare Selection has quickly established itself as a champion for underground electronic music from both sides of the pond. Over the years they have released records from Lijah, .nathan., Manga Saint Hilare, Tre Mission, Freeza Chin, K-Notes and more.

Taipan Trax is a fresh new label founded by Leeds based producer Phasmid. Kicking off the imprint with a killer compilation, Taipan Trax Vol. 1 features producers from up and down the UK, all spinning their own style on the dark and wonky sounds of the underground - mainly spanning across bass, rave and breakbeat. Gibbin’s ‘Bad Club Etiquette’ is exactly what it says on the tin, a boisterous track featuring a vocal sample shouting out bad behaviour. Premiere: Gibbin - Bad Club Etiquette [Taipan Trax]

Each year, we ask a few artists from the Dekmantel Selectors line-up to deliver a mix in anticipation of the new edition. Who could be a better fit than DJ Python to re-initiate this tradition?

Even before Dulce Compañia, which introduced the Python alias to the world, Brian Piñeyro has been providing a wide array of unique sounds to those who care to listen. To be fair, he makes it hard not to care, and also to describe his ambling, dembow-inspired rhythms as something other than ‘deep reggaeton’. But if Piñeyro has taught us one thing, it is that music is just moods flowing into one another. Sometimes, the mood is a percussive therapy session, and sometimes it warps drone-driven electronica, tingly synths, and steely dancehall.

It is unsurprising that this mix is all about the mood too. A 60-minute journey across genuinely emotive songs and honeyed hymns. In his words, it’s just about “enjoying the time with people around you, whatever shape the people or the time may take”. When listening to this mix, keep in mind DJ Python’s approach to making soup: you can only really do it well if you allow yourself to move beyond the recipe. The only thing left to do is let go and get locked in.
