I've always been a songwriter but over a decade into my recovery from anorexia, I still hadn’t written a song about it. I had never made any public statement about my story and every time I met a new person, the question of "when do I tell them?” Ran through my head. That all changed one day out of nowhere. I was in Brooklyn on the 5 Train between Franklin Ave and Borough Hall when I wrote “Skinny.” Perhaps more accurately, “Skinny” wrote itself. The whole song passed through me in a matter of minutes and I recorded a rough demo of it in the studio that same day. It was the hardest song I’ve ever recorded. My palms were sweaty and I could hardly breathe. My producer, God bless him, was so patient with me and allowed me the space to be open and vulnerable to ensure the song felt as authentic as possible. 

“Skinny” changed everything. That summer, I celebrated my 12 years of recovery. Instead of celebrating with my loved ones the way I normally do, I wrote. I wrote about how bittersweet it is to celebrate something that I still struggle with every single day and I over and over, I must keep surrendering to my higher power. I submitted the piece to Elephant Journal and when it was published, I shared it on Facebook. For the first time ever, I celebrated my recovery not just with an intimate group of people but also with everyone who follows me. The support was incredible! Almost overnight I went from struggling and recovering in secret to being a public recovery warrior. 

Recording "Skinny” transformed my life. I was able to re visit my darkest days and paint a real depiction of how it feels to be trapped by such a catastrophic disease. That feeling of powerlessness was still deep inside me somewhere and through this song I was able to let it speak. Although recovery from this disease is still a daily challenge creating a piece of art to reflect my experience feels a hell of a lot more potent to me than the shame surrounding my disease. For this I am eternally grateful.

On her third album Hangover Music, soul singer-songwriter Corina Corina explores the extreme ups and downs of being a lifelong party girl who often feels like an outsider. Co-produced by her longtime creative partner Willie Green, this full-length album paints a vivid picture of the artist’s complicated relationship with alcohol and its impact on life, love, and career. 
 
From singing over twelve-bar blues structures to rapping, Corina Corina digs deep into her conflicted feelings about being the only single 30-something woman at a wedding (“Wedding Season”), regrets over lost love (“There’s This”), and her long career as a bartender (“BAR$”).
 
Full of contradictions. Hangover Music features both a love song to tequila (Blue), and a track dedicated to the break-up with her beloved spirit (Blue pt. II). Heavily influenced by blues, electronic, pop and hip hop music, Corina Corina’s sonic style has been called “a fresh and melodic vocal hybrid to hip hop and modern R&B.” (nyc.okayplayer.com)
 
Though not every song is directly about alcohol, all tracks fit into the structure of the album, which has four movements: Happy Hour, Blackout, Hangover, and Hair of the Dog. While funded entirely by bar tips – yes, really – Hangover Music takes listeners beyond the bar, and into the heart and soul of Corina Corina.

Longtime friends from the Brooklyn underground hip-hop scene, Corina Corina & Dan Dillinger are ready to unveil their joint project many years in the works: I.S.K.B. (I Should Know Better) for their debut single, “Script$.”

“Script$” is Corina Corina’s deeply personal narrative set to Dan Dillinger’s heavy metal infused beat. The song references her journey navigating the world of prescription drugs to treat her lifelong chronic depression, ADD and OCD. She describes the difficult trade off she makes between living with her disease or living with the medication’s many side effects: apathy, dissociation, loss of libido and more. The song begs the question, “Would I rather feel everything or nothing at all?”

Alt R&B vocalist Corina Corina was born in Oakland, CA and is the eldest child of political activists. Named after a classic Blues song, it seems her career path in music was set early on. Now with roots in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area, Corina Corina brings a fresh and seamless synergy between 90s-style r&b, dark pop, lyrically driven hip hop and the blues and soul music she grew up on. 

First gaining recognition as a solo artist within the New York City independent hip-hop music scene, she's had the honor of sharing stages with heavyweights Talib Kweli, Action Bronson and Masta Ace and musically collaborating with some of her favorite mcs: Homeboy Sandman, Elucid and billy woods. 

Both of her self-released solo albums, “The Eargasm” (2012), and "The Free Way" (2014) were co-produced with internationally acclaimed producer Willie Green, and touch on everything from gender inequality to self-love and resisting social norms. 

Corina Corina has expanded her message of empowerment and authenticity through writing for popular lifestyle blogs such as like Elephant Journal, G.O.A.T. Hip-Hop, Stop the Breaks and Recovery Warriors. In addition to her solo projects, she also performs in acoustic blues/folk duo Max Caddy with her partner, Jesse O’Neill.

Known by many as one of the hardest working women in the indie music scene, she's spent years touring extensively through the USA and has performed in multiple showcases at South by Southwest in Austin and North by Northwest in Toronto. 

In early 2017, Corina Corina released a mixtape tribute to Run the Jewels entitled "Run the Blues" and is putting the final touches on her third full length LP, “Hangover Music.” The album written and produced entirely by herself and Willie Green and is a reflective and hard honest look at her relationship with alcohol and her version of adulthood. Through a range of styles and moods, she has created her strongest work yet.
