This song is by a songwriter living in Guelph, Ontario, who doesn't play out anymore, but whose songs I believe in so much that I made a vow, when I started making Corin Raymond albums, that I'd include a Doug Norquay song on every album I made. So far I'm three for three, and this is the Norquay song on my live album Paper Nickels. Paper Nickels is a double album, recorded live, the packaging of which includes a 144-page full-colour book which tells the stories of where I found these songs and who the writers are.

Ol' Fort Mac is the first track on Side A/Set 1 of Paper Nickels. It's by Rob Vaarmeyer of Winnipeg, MB. Mark my word, this will be a campfire staple in this country before any of us are much older. Paper Nickels was released in Toronto at The Tranzac on January 22nd/23rd, 2013, and features songs by 16 different writers who are my contemporaries. Rob Vaarmeyer has three songs on the album.
