With his highly-anticipated fourth solo-LP, “PTSD” (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Pharoahe Monch re-emerges with a new concept project which finds the ground-breaking emcee tackling PTSD; a severe anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to any event that results in psychological trauma. Throughout the duration of the LP, Monch narrates as an independent artist weary from the war against the industry machine and through the struggle of the black male experience in America.
 
Pharoahe Monch has been at the forefront of lyrical innovation for two-decades now.  Not only is he one of Hip-Hop’s preeminent lyricists, crafting intricate rhyme schemes and intelligent raps, but he is also an incisive political and social commentator, using Hip-Hop as a platform for political engagement.

'Rapid Eye Movement' featuring Black Thought of the Roots Crew, is a lyrical barrage worthy of these two titans, as Monch and Black Thought get lucid for a 4-minute exhibition of pure lyricism.  "Rapid Eye Movement" is produced by Marco Polo with scratches by DJ Revolution.

Following the critically acclaimed Pillars EP with MindsOne, Kev Brown teams up again with Ill Adrenaline Records, this time collaborating with fellow Low Budget Crew member Hassaan Mackey to bless listeners with "That Grit". 

Both the Landover, MD based producer-on-the-mic and the Rochester, NY emcee are longtime members of the prolific artist collective and have previously worked together various times, but this mini-album marks the first time the two embark on a full project. Most boom-bap enthusiasts should already be well acquainted with both Kev Brown and Hassaan Mackey: double threat Kev Brown already showcased his skills on microphones as well as production boards on countless releases and has been dubbed "king of basslines" by fans worldwide. In addition to his solo recordings Kev's credits include beats for heavyweights like Busta Rhymes, Biz Markie, De La Soul, Jazzy Jeff, and Marley Marl just to name a few, as well as handling entire album production for LMNO, Kaimbr, and Raw Poetic. Hassaan Mackey released a string of albums, including a full-length LP with Apollo Brown, and appearances on releases by Oddissee, Kaimbr, The Left and L’Orange. 

Recorded during a series of impromptu bus and train trips Hassaan took from Rochester to visit Kev in Washington, "That Grit" was created with a spontaneous approach, reflecting both Mackey's freestyle background and Brown's proven "random joints" formula. Entirely produced by Kev Brown and featuring his signature bassline-driven and raw but soulful sound, "That Grit" consists of an intro, eight full-length tracks and six instrumentals. Hassaan and Kev share mic duties on most of the songs, inviting close friends/frequent collaborators Kaimbr, Toine, yU, Kenn Starr, Eye-Q, Asheru (of Unspoken Heard) as well as the Younger Soul Brother Grap Luva along as feature guests, turning the record into a true family affair.

That Grit is now available for purchase (CD/LP/cassette/digital) via Ill Adrenaline/Low Budget Records and to celebrate, we get a ‘Low Budget’ posse cut, “Git Em,” by underground icons Kev Brown & Hassaan Mackey featuring yU (of Diamond District), Toine (of DTMD), Kaimbr and Eye-Q.

In 2008, Termanology began making a name for himself, he had several highly-acclaimed singles in rotation and when DJ Premier laced him with one of his signature, scratch-laden beats on "Watch How It Go Down" the hood conscious anthem became an underground classic; and with it Termanology thrust himself onto hip-hop's international radar.

Soon after, Term released his solo-debut, Politics As Usual, a project that included a Mount Rushmore like array of producers; DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Large Professor, Havoc, Alchemist, Hi-Tek, Buckwild, Easy Mo Bee & Nottz. Politics As Usual was one of those rare projects which managed to merge the best of both worlds for Hip-Hop fans; meshing classic boom-bap production from a virtual who's who list of production royalty with Term’s lyricism, swagger and bravado.

Just as in life, in hip-hop everything comes full-circle and while a lot has changed since Termanology released his debut; he’s back with More Politics.  Similar to his debut, More Politics again brings together the elite of the elite beatsmiths, as Just Blaze, Q-Tip, Buckwild, Hi-Tek, Nottz, Dame Grease, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and his brother from another mother Statik Selektah all contribute production.

"I've been a lifelong fan of The Lox, so having Sheek Louch & Styles P on my single is really exciting, not to mention Buckwild is one of my favorite producers” Term commented to Mass Appeal  " Rather than doing what people would expect from Term & The Lox, I wanted to make something creative and different. I went the conceptual route, writing about all the things I dream to attain and Styles & Sheek did the same."

TERMANOLOGY f. Sheek Louch & Styles P "I Dream B.I.G." (prod. by Buckwild)

HipHopDX Premiere: Ahead of his upcoming debut album, Here, Halifax, Nova Scotia native ChanHays has shared a slice of the album titled “Running,” which features Skyzoo, Elzhi and Uptown XO.

Previously released singles include “New Bag” with The Cool Kids, one of several features on the project. ChanHays addressed the diversity found on his album in the press release.

“I wanted a wide range in the sound to showcase my production,” he said. “I feel I can do it all. That said, there’s a continuity throughout the tracks and the artists featured. These are artists I’ve been a fan of for years and I think I’ve given them backdrops on which they can really flex.”
