This is quite a simplified version of Andy Irvine’s song “Baneasas Green Glade" both from his early Planxty days and later solo albums, as well as the version recorded with Mozaik. Chords are simply Am, Em and D, then Am Em and D followed by Am Em G Am, back to G C Em and Am. 
The verse: “We’d sit in our Glade” goes: Am Dm Dm Am Am G Em Am. - We’d sit Am in our glade Dm till the heat Dm of the day Am walk down Am to the zoo G to sit Em to play Am. An easier way to play it than some songbooks suggest, as I say in the track - ignore the key Andy plays in, just find your own preferred pitch. It's a very simple version but quite effective.

The first melody is from the Petrie Collection and the second jig based upon John J. Kimmel's setting from his recording of the tune made in 1918.

I’ve been playing folk since 1972 and have stuck with it ever since, playing a variety of instruments such as Avalon guitar, Fylde bouzoukis, Sobell octave mandola, whistles, bodhran and most recently clarinet and hurdy-gurdy. I record under the name Corncrake but also used to play with the folk group Voice of the Bann. I supported stalwarts such as Andy Irvine, John Martyn, Clannad and Moving Hearts as a support act many years ago and am still a great fan of Andy and his local folk songs - I play them regularly at sessions or local concerts. I promote the local Ulster-Scots tradition; the music of my region of Northern Ireland - bagpipes and Lambeg drums are in my blood along with the reels and jigs of my traditional music; however I play all kinds of folk from Scots to Irish, Breton, Greek, East European and beyond.
