The Seed

The Seed was written the day after The Rose was produced in Los Angeles, California, Easter 2017.

Tupac Shakur & Thug Life’s Album Volume I, Wikipedia:
Volume 1 is the only studio album by American hip hop group Thug Life, started by rapper Tupac Shakur, it was released on September 26, 1994 by Interscope Records. The group featured Big Syke, Macadoshis, Mopreme, The Rated R and Tupac Shakur. [...] The album was originally released by Shakur's label Out Da Gutta Records […] Interscope Records felt many of the other recorded songs were too controversial to release. It has been said that 2Pac created two other versions of this album, with many of the songs still remaining unreleased.
Although the original version of the album never came to fruition as the album went through a number of changes, Tupac performed the planned first single from the album, "Out on Bail" at the 1994 Source Awards. Although the album was originally released on Shakur's label Out Da Gutta, Amaru Entertainment, the label owned by Tupac's mother, Afeni Shakur, gained the rights to it. Thug Life: Volume 1 was certified Gold. The track "How Long Will They Mourn Me?" appeared later in 1998 from 2Pac's Greatest Hits album. It sold 500,000 copies in the United States in 1994.

Frida Kahlo and her painting, www.FridaKahlo.org:
This portrait depicts Luther Burbank, the horticulturist who is famous for growing unusual vegetable and fruit hybrids. In this portrait Burbank is shown as a hybrid with half as man and the other half as tree. It shows Burbank was holding a plant without root which is obvious one of his hybrid and himself was planted. His lower lets are displayed as tree trunks and the roots are fed by his own copse. This painting is the first painting shows Frida's favorite theme: "the fertilization of life by death". Burbank was buried under a tree of his California home after he died in 1926 and i's just a metaphor of it. In this portrait for the first time Frida turned away from the straightforward depiction of the external subject. She was in contact with Surrealism while she was staying in San Francisco and might be influenced by the style. Another speculation is that this painting's style came straight from her Mexican background. In Mexican culture they believe human beings would transfer into plants and animals and this is a common topic in Mexican art.

Luther Burbank, Wikipedia:
Burbank's most successful strains and varieties include the Shasta daisy, the fire poppy (note possible confusion with the California wildflower, Papaver californicum, which is also called a fire poppy), the "July Elberta" peach, the "Santa Rosa" plum, the "Flaming Gold" nectarine, the "Wickson" plum (named after the agronomist Edward J. Wickson), the freestone peach, and the white blackberry. A natural genetic variant of the Burbank potato with russet-colored skin later became known as the russet Burbank potato. This large, brown-skinned, white-fleshed potato has become the world's predominant potato in food processing. The Russet Burbank potato was in fact invented to help with the devastating situation in Ireland during the Irish Potato famine. This particular potato variety was created by Burbank to help "revive the country's leading crop" as it is slightly late blight-resistant. Late blight (Phytophthora infestans) is a disease that spread and destroyed potatoes all across Europe but caused extreme chaos in Ireland due to the high dependency on potatoes as a crop by the Irish.

“Who Want the Smoke?” is a collaboration between Lil Yachty, Cardi B, and Offset. BlocBoy JB also contributes vocals to the song; although he does not have a verse or chorus, his ad-libs are heard throughout. This is the lead single to Yachty’s third studio album Nuthin' 2 Prove. 
On the song, Cardi B proclaims herself to be the “king of New York,” a very controversial and coveted title.
This song marks Yachty’s first collaboration with Cardi & BlocBoy; he has previously collaborated with Offset on many occasions.
Yachty previewed this song in May 2018 on his Instagram, when he was seen in the company of BlocBoy and Tay Keith during one of BlocBoy’s visits to Atlanta, Georgia.

In late 2017, I was asked if I could perform a Brazilian candomblé rite of passage ritual with 2 classes of 4th graders at a public school , Guldbergsgade Skole, in Nørrebro. Nørrebro is my own neighborhood where I am raising my 7 year old son.

My anthropological knowledge on rites of  passage and how they can enable instilling a positive mindset and a growth attitude inspired me to create a ritual with its onset in the reality as I see it, in Nørrebro.

Kids growing up in general has always needed very tangible advices on how to grow.

So I decided to start by turning the spotlight on the light inside, the best light that could ever guide you.

And so this mix took form.

The ritual consisted in choreography, yoga and meditation to these beautiful tunes so as to attune to the energy centers of the body and the wisdom they hold – the chakras.
I admire each artist on this list immensely and each and one of them are assisting on my spiritual journey towards the light. This is what I wanted to share with the 4th graders, and with you.
