BLOWING THRU SECAUCUS... is just that, a drive through with potholes and traffic, observing the life and times from the dashboard.  George Wallace shares his journey, and the stories of those who hitched along, and blows the exhaust pipe even further with his accompanying GEORGE WALLACE AND FRIENDS album, that includes selections from the printed collection.  It could be that George fell asleep, after one bad boy night in the 70’s, and woke the next day to  write this gritty collection.  It’s a description of the ugly-beauty George Wallace sees in his world, and in this case, NJ.  Either way George sees people as they are, fabulous and flawed.   From "Katherina the Youngest Ballerina" to the "Gambling Man"  George finds a way to include all walks of life, fills his poems with witty one liners, punctuates poems with curse words and gets right to the bone. Both the print and audio of BLOWING THRU SECAUCUS- are a cool jazz, shock- absorbing ride. Buckle up!

The Restless Open crew, at Chateau le Woof  in Astoria Queens,  met with me to do a round table of poetry and discussion. We all agree that the mission of the Restless mic has been accomplished; if you want to define a good mic - remove the competitiveness and you'll get a genuine read. Mac was a talented young songwriter and performer who sadly lost his battle with cancer in early 2024. Pariti, the co-founder of the scene is also in on this interview as we highlight the FLASH MOB poetry circle, that meets in Eisenhower Park LI NY. Steven Reigns is a Los Angeles poet and educator and was appointed the first Poet Laureate of West Hollywood. Alongside over a dozen chapbooks, he has published the collections Inheritance and Your Dead Body is My Welcome Mat. Reigns holds a BA in Creative Writing from the University of South Florida, a Master of Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, and is a sixteen-time recipient of The Los Angeles County’s Department of Cultural Affairs’ Artist in Residency Grant. He edited My Life is Poetry, showcasing his students’ work from the first-ever autobiographical poetry workshop for LGBT seniors. Reigns has lectured and taught writing workshops around the country to LGBT youth and people living with HIV. Currently he is touring The Gay Rub, an exhibition of rubbings from LGBT landmarks, facilitates the monthly Lambda Lit Book Club. His newest collection A Quilt for David was published by City Lights and is the product of over ten years of research regarding dentist David Acer’s life.
