Anonymous engineer Man Power delivers the Kiloton EP for Correspondant’s 26th release, available in both digital and vinyl formats on 14 April 2014. The producer’s recent contributions to the label, including a track on Compilation 02, feature corrosive riffs and irreverent stylistic mixing. Kiloton presents a tighter sound complimenting label signatures of 
acid-laced, dramaturgical warm-ups and off-kilter body workouts. 

Man Power opens Kiloton with Balearic beats and chugging 303 acid, summoning a Soca-style saxophone intervention, then stirring discordant synths into a sonic whirlpool. All sound is momentarily sucked into a silent plateau, before plunging back down to ride out the track with new momentum. In his outerworld rework, Hardway Bros’ Brit Sean Johnston pitches down the original, swerving into low-slung 80s styling and leaving behind galactic static. 

“Parenthesis” is built around samples from a ‘71 conversation between critical philosophers Chomsky and Foucault on the need for creative freedom in human labor. Man Power creates urgency around the tempered delivery of Chomsky’s words with escalating, acid-drenched pulses, distorted echoes, and distended synths to simultaneously soporific and provocative effect. 

British producer and DJ Raudive turns out a cold-blooded, high-octane rework of “Parenthesis”. His minimalist composition puts a driving kick drum at the core, and the narrative is compressed down around the directive matrix of “Work” and the encircling echoes of “Repression – Oppression – Destruction – Coercion”. Raw electricity jolts bones.

Coming from the traffic-saturated streets and lo-fi screamo scene of Mexico City, rising producer Max Jones makes his debut on Correspondant with the Cornetto EP. 

Lead cut “Cornetto” starts things off in the label’s signature style of deep, dark dancefloor warmups, with a live-feel percussive line and foggy drones shot through with confrontational midrange sirens. “Uh Oh” opens at a clip with an electrified, alien pulse, but keeps to the stripped-back core elements of thrashing cymbals and two alternating vocal samples. “Slow feat. Mijo” finds Jones teaming up with ongoing collaborator Alec Sander in a sinister, new wave-inspired cut, built around a narcotic vocal mantra and resonant, oscillating synths, while the minimal, throbbing bassline of “L.M.M” follows its own trail into a sonic wormhole, offset by crispy hi-hats to round out the EP. 

Cornetto follows previous label releases Polina, from Agents of Time, and The Ballroom collaborative 12” from Jennifer Cardini and David Shaw, and will see a vinyl and digital release on September 22.

Harrison BDP stands as one of the true masters of that off-world deep house sound. Easily one of the most consistent producers of the past five years, so having the Welsh wizard launch the first 12” on Jupiter’s Depth is iconic. The EP delivers it all — from deep, trippy journeys to pacey dub-techno rollers. No question, another Discogs relic in the making — 300 press, so move quick.

“So What” finds Harrison BDP deep in his element. It’s immersion at its purest — a rolling house trip where fizzy sci-fi textures and dubbed-out chords dissolve into each other like smoke and signal. The sound design is hyper-detailed and hallucinatory, living somewhere between science fiction and dream. As the groove turns, a voice drifts through the haze, whispering a line from the void: be the space at the centre.

“Mushy Peas” follows, and the name might hint at playfulness, but don’t be fooled — this one’s the record’s most direct, peak-time driver.
Classic ’90s lead work meets his trademark dubbed-out touch — simple, heavy, and built to move a floor.

“Chizz for Brains” kicks off with a warped percussion loop that scrambles your brain before the drop even hints at arriving. Alien FX orbit the rhythm, giving it that off-world tension — like touching down on Jupiter mid-set. It’s cinematic, weird, and still locked into an unmistakable groove. A head-knocker through and through.

“Cherry” hits with intent — moody, stripped-back, and fierce. The bassline loops like muscle memory, pulling you into that space between dub techno’s depth and house’s drive. Pads hang in the air like something between horror and heaven, eerie but euphoric. It’s freaky in the best way — the kind of tension BDP turns into groove.

Arlanoa makes a powerful debut on Correspondant with My Kind Of Love — a standout release that blends sensual energy, electrifying vocals, and infectious rhythms into a modern powerhouse anthem. The track’s pulse and intensity reflect Arlanoa’s unique ability to merge emotional depth with undeniable club momentum.

On remix duties, label regulars Zombies In Miami inject their signature hypnotic groove, while Ketiov reimagines the original with a bold twist.

For our final release of the year on Shades Of Sound Recordings, our global spotlight for exciting new music falls on Buenos Aires, where Argentinian producer On The Reg delivers a stunning 4-track EP of deep house and balearica.

This collection sees a blending of warm, rolling grooves with lush pads, sun-washed melodies, and subtle organic textures. A sound that glides effortlessly between late-night introspection and golden-hour calm with nods to ‘90s downtempo and breakbeat influences, infusing the EP with a nostalgic edge that recalls early Café del Mar compilations and the halcyon days of chillout rooms and coastal sunsets.

Across its four pieces, Hernán captures that timeless Balearic balance between rhythm and reflection, offering music equally suited to intimate club sets, beachside sessions, and long night drives.

The EP will be available digitally on 18th November via Shades Of Sound Recordings, closing out a year of globally inspired deep house, downtempo, and electronica releases.

After a feature on last year’s VA Family Affair comp, Tokyo-based producer Yuu Udagawa drops her first solo EP on Razor-N-Tape. 
 
With releases on Freerange and Compost under her belt, Yuu has been developing a subtle and moody deep house sound that she displays across the three original songs of the ‘Urban Physicality EP’. Each track vibrates with dark chordal textures, pulsating drums and chopped vocal samples, beautifully layered to develop and slowly build. To round out the record, Tokyo producer Takuya Matsumoto turns in a throbbing late-nite remix of the EP’s title track, with a tougher drum profile, cavernous bass, and masterful sound design

PREMIERE A1 - Aiden Francis - Peachy [RIDE19]

The Nan’in Path EP” brings to light two unreleased pieces from 2022 and 2023. Tracks born from a quiet, spiritual undercurrent and recently completed after a stay at Nan’in Temple in Koyasan (Japan), where I had the chance to share a few peaceful days with Buddhist monks.

“The Nan’in Path” is a hypnotic club-driven journey crafted with analog drum machines and carried by a Buddhist sutra that flows like a mantra through the track.

“Something Ethereal” offers a moment of air between the noise of everyday life: an experimental, soul-lifting piece produced entirely on a Roland MC-505.

A small release shaped by time, silence and a bit of dust finally brushed off. Hope it resonates.
