Lithuanian producer and DJ Zakmina makes his long-awaited return with the Takeshi EP on VIAVIA Records.
Known for blending sounds from the past, present, and future into his own style, he now delivers a release of 90s house, grooves crafted straight for the floor.

Vilnius-based, Zakmina began collecting records and experimenting in the studio at an early age. His explorations have since shaped a sound that feels both familiar and forward-looking. With Takeshi EP, he once more showcases that balance: playful, raw, and dance-driven.

To complete the release, Milio contributes a deep club remix, a tight rework made for peak hours.

Something very special here from Miles Away Records. ‘Let Me Down Easy: Echoes From Cheri Records’ is the story of how a tiny label from New Jersey changed the course of music history not once but twice. Cheri Records was established in 1974 in New Jersey and run by Boo Frazier. Cheri’s output was limited, producing a catalogue of just eleven releases between the years 1974 and 1982. On the face of it, this appears to be insubstantial output. However, if you dig a little deeper, the quality released on Cheri Records reveals an exceptional legacy of groundbreaking music.
A dark horse in the world of record labels, a true unsung legend that would go on to alter the course of musical history and intersect with a remarkable array of talented artists, bands and DJs. From Rare Pleasure, Sandy Barber, Julius Brockington, Boo Frazier, Patrick Adams, Tom Moulton, Larry Levan and MF Doom - Cheri Records has directly impacted their artistry in significant ways. Cheri’s influence even extends into the present, with DJ icons like David Morales, Dave Lee, Danny Krivit, and Colin Curtis continuing to champion its contributions.
This compilation brings together the most compelling tracks from the Cheri catalogue, shedding light on the label’s extraordinary story and underscoring the idea that music, no matter how unassuming its origins, can transcend boundaries and reshape, influence and inform music to come for future generations. Here you'll find some of the finest soul and gospel music from artists such as Rare Pleasure, The Family Tree, Julius Brockington, Roslyn & Charles, Hyla Parker and Brooklyn People. This collection also represents the start of a new series here on Miles Away, a series that will delve into the labels and studios that were responsible for leaving a lasting imprint on the musical world. The series is called this Echoes From, and this compilation will be the first of many. The vinyl package comes in a gatefold sleeve with in-depth liner notes and features interviews with Colin Curtis and David Morales.

DJ Subaru returns to Palms Trax’s CWPT with ‘Dog’, showcasing three tracks of offbeat dancefloor material that encompasses throbbing italo, sticky indie dancefloors and snarling, timeless punk.

Following on from their 2024 EP ‘Lots of Love’, the short time since has seen the DJ and producer rising on their own terms, scoring Tune of The Week from BBC 6Music’s ‘Introducing’, playing multiple gigs at Berghain/Panorama Bar and elsewhere around Europe, always returning to hone their cultishly adored Pleasuremaxxx party in their home city of Leeds.

Title track ‘Dog’ reunites DJ Subaru with regular vocal collaborator Chopper Johnson, delivering a gratifying sermon of canine defiance to suit Subaru’s razor-sharp motorik disco, whose pumping bassline and angular guitar licks prove irresistible to dancers seeking independent energy in the lineage of CBGBs or Trash.

Meanwhile, Rush channels the same philosophy into a pogoing pleasure palace, raising the tempo and masterfully dividing its impulses between the cosmic elegance of Norwegian nu-disco and Pete Waterman’s poppers-fuelled strobe light fantasies. The result is an international anthem in memory of all local discoteques.

Finally, ‘Swoon’ steps back from the fizzier attitude of its tougher siblings for Subaru’s most disciplined attempt yet at a “proper club track”; the result succeeds entirely on its own terms, destined to transfix revelers with blissful analogue chords and slinky drums, while never skipping a beat on Subaru’s unique sonic character. El Sol Me Sigue was born from a simple moment: a sunny evening, my girlfriend by my side, and this ‘poolside’ instrumental track that had been sitting on my computer for a few weeks.
I challenged her to have some fun with the microphone. She accepted, shyly, a little hesitantly, but she quickly got into it. We ended up finding that perfect balance, a sweet and spontaneous track that captures the warmth and intimacy of that sunny, cute moment.

Manchester's Do As You Please label continue their forward momentum with Zac Stanton's 'You Might Like It' EP, dropping December 5th. The three-track release sees Stanton exploring the tension between UK rave’s signature pull and house music's euphoric release - finding something fresh and gritty in the space between.

'Still Havin'', 'Touch Me', and the title track each take their own route, touching on classic UK bleep, jungle and acid influence. Stanton's production is precise without being clinical and playful without losing impact. These are tracks built for function but with enough personality to stick around after the night ends.

A familiar face in the DAYP family, Stanton has been part of the brand’s growth since its early days, consistently bringing both technical skill and genuine understanding of what actually works. His sets across Manchester have earned respect not through hype, but through delivery.
