After a critically acclaimed LP on I'm A Cliché in 2014 and a string of quality EPs, edits and remixes left right and center, The Red Axes are back on Cosmo Vitelli's imprint. This is the first entry in Red Axe's Shem series on I'm a Cliché which will see the Israeli duo releasing tracks geared towards the dancefloor but always retaining the one-of-a-kind approach that it distills in all its productions.

With a solid rhythm section, Nu Mi is a track built around a groovy synth sequence, later joined by a bass guitar, layers of guitar pads that range from the melodic to the noisy along with treated samples. Bristol based imprint FutureBoogie delivers rock solid nu-disco and house 12"s for already five years now. Their latest release to date by Lauer certainly didn't disappoint and they're now rolling into spring
with a heavyweight one from dastardly duo Ron & Neil Aka Ron Basejam and Neil Diablo, who between them bring years of musical chops and (most importantly) "the funk" to the table.
In its Original Mix, ‘Perdre Son Éclat’ is a breezy yet sturdy slice of atmospheric synth dance, resplendent with swirling riffs and stammering bass. A thunderous Roland CR-78 drum pattern keeps everything in check, and its sultry french vocals flitter between spoken word and harmonious refrains, lacing the track with a superb "new wave" feel.
Here premiered, a remix comes courtesy of Man Power, the musical enigma that traded on his anonymity for a couple of years before coming clean as the English DJ/producer Geoff Kirkwood. Having released on labels like Hivern, Throne Of Blood and Correspondant, Man Power takes "Perdre Son Éclat" into even deeper territories, crafting a moody and spacious version that respectfully stays close to the original mix. After releasing the Last Train To Marzahn EP in 2016, I’m a Cliché boss Cosmo Vitelli is back with the label’s first release of 2017, CLICHÉ066.

The Cemetery of Unsigned House Tracks
Clocking at 9 minutes, don’t get fooled by the track’s tongue-in-cheek title, we’re dealing here with a seriously epic tune. Set in an endlessly rising motion, the track begins with a refined but twisted vibe, sparse but ominous guitars and plenty of FX. Gradually, an infectious synth arpeggio rises and carries with it the whole track, some sort of hypnotic and sensual monster, utterly irresistible on the dancefloor.

El Si Señor (Skinny version)
If you think this track is just a tool, then you’re only getting half of the picture. Skinny but chock-full of melodic and percussive content with a plodding rhythmic section moving at around 105 BPM. This is a downtempo track where heartfelt melodies, sound effects, and pristine seamless arrangements are used with great results by Cosmo Vitelli.

When Suddenly : Acid
With Cosmo Vitelli’s trademark style being eclectism, it’s pointless to pin down this track to a specific genre. Borrowing from the kind of disco not disco and acid-without-303 vibes that I’m a Cliché is famous for, this is an instantly gratifying tune where synthesizers are engaged in call and response melodies in an elegant take on the idea of machine funk. The result is catchy, refreshing and primed for the dancefloor.

El Si Señor (Soundtrack Version)
With melodies that are more expansive and at the fore, leaving the rhythmic section discernible but clearly in the background, this version of El Si Senor is a reference to 70s film music, and this bittersweet tune closes the EP in style.

Exclusive V 'TGV'

Vidmantas Cepkauskas alias V compiled Vilnius based nightlife institution Opium Club's first compilation called 'Opium Of The People'. Therefore V gathered a group of club affiliated producers in order to compile a potpourri of music that represents the club's sound. Of course, the resident himself contributed an original track for the compilation too. 'TGV', as V's compilation contribution is named, starts off with a crisp bass line before shortly after the first synth-chords are introduced and add a melancholia that is  highlighted as a second synth sets in and soaks its listener even deeper into V's soundscapes. 'TGV' smoothly depicts Vidmantas intuition for creating a dance floor cut that sounds so easy with its pleasantly calm sound-selection and arrangement that it makes you attain perfection in the heaviness of melancholia. 

'Opium Of The People' compiled and mixed by V will be released April 27th, 2018 on Le Temps Perdu.

EXCLUSIVE: V - TGV [Le Temps Perdu]

Hot Concept continues with a third release, ‘Not Colour Absolute’, courtesy of a hero of the UK underground, Bleaching Agent. Best known for his blistering techno and glorious legacy as one half of surprisingly influential gabber-italo duo Blacknecks, Bleaching Agent’s debut release on Hot Concept takes it's title from a line by French Decadent poet Paul Verlaine, who might well have approved of the record's unprecocious celebration of hedonism, had he not died well over a century ago.

‘On Returning’ is a warm, trippy house anthem, acid lines dancing around binary vocal samples that seem to be attempting to communicate something potentially quite lovely.
