Florian Herzberg is the man behind My Secret Playground. When giving his 3-tracker-debut on JEAHMON! Records a headline we would choose this: "A Berlin Melange". Again and again Florian is drawn to his hometown Vienna. A city full of old glory and vanity, a spirit of optimism and standstill in the same way. On his new EP "NOSTALGIA", the now Berlin-based producer combines these opposites in three Electro and typical 1980s tracks. Rolling aggressive beats are replaced by broad synths and strings. Pounding kick drums paired with nostalgic vocal lines make the leap into the 21st century and give My Secret Playgrounds EP its own contemporary Indie Dance sound. The veteran Brazilian producer Gui Boratto has always had a way with musicality and drama in his music.

This EP for Zatar displays a lot of the things we have come to expect from him - rich instrumentation, lots of melody, and a deep, emotional take on dance music.

The original version Déjeuner Sur L ́Herbe combines a chugging groove with pianos, guitars and thick bass - a full movie sound- track in one piece.

CIOZ and Fairplay provide the remix duties for the 2nd version, teasing out the ele- ments over 8 and a half minutes, and twis- ting it into a psychedelic epic.

Johannes Albert also provides a rework, dialing into a more machine funk vibe while letting the groove breathe.

Living on Shimon (Moscoman & Katzele Editorial)

Patrick Zigon’s highly-acclaimed second studio album, Due To Fog, was released on Biotop in May of this year. Now it gets a proper remix treatment from the label’s most important ambassadors - and some of Patrick’s all-time heroes.

The first remix EP features Eduardo De La Calle’s rough and banging version of Damokles, Noah Pred’s extended dub rework of The End My Friend, Javier Orduna’s hypnotic remake of Paseo De Los Melancolicos, Jepe’s beautiful Parallelwelt remix, and a bristling acid workout of Vajinashun from Pawas.

AEON label founder Alex Niggemann closes the year in style with the remarkable ​Electric Mariachi​. Unique remixes are delivered from cosmic disco inspired Rigopolar and Spanish talent Pional.
Electric Mariachi opens with vocoded robotic words, a heavy snare combines with electro zap before Alex introduces horn, adding a human element into an intergalactic journey bursting with energy and emotion. ​Pional is first up on remix duty with an acid interpretation, a loopy, hypnotic bassline wraps around the original melody and showcases his deeply compulsive electronics that can be found on the likes of Young Turks, Phonica Records and Permanent Vacation. Mexican-born, L.A. based, ​Rigopolar ​then turns his hand to two remixes. The stripped down remix is a colourful synth-wave piece where arpeggiating tones move like liquid over reverbed percussion. His second sees him up the ante, in a space influenced extended version that ebbs and flows throughout with his psychedelic glowing keys.
The word visionary is often overused in electronic music, but it’s the perfect description for Alex Niggemann. His ethos is to embrace the new and push the boundaries of the genre he loves so much. Since breaking through in 2006 with his remix of Booka Shade’s ​Darko,​ ​Alex Niggemann ​has continuously impressed with a slew of hits on seminal labels including Crosstown Rebels and Mule Musiq, as well as his own AEON imprint.

Combining darkness and happiness in his music Tel Aviv-based artist Rina has left his footprints in the blossoming nightlife scene of his country and beyond, always having an ear for aspiring, local or renowned artists. Maybe the latter is his key to success or the reason why Asaf, Rina’s real name, has been a scene’s mainstay, or maybe it’s his unagitated way how to deal and approach music that made him win the laurels. However, Rina’s got something (fried) cooking - musically - that is on his way from the dark underground to daylight. So Asaf took on intense remix duties for Abrão’s track Intensidade - so basically one project of his remixes another one he’s involved with - on Frank Wiedemann’s Bigamo Musik imprint. Shortly before the release Asaf spoke to Torture the Artist, not only about the remix and his relationship to music but also about falafel. the underground, balancing things out, his Jazz-band and Suppe Bekifft.
