Parisian label Meant turns to Hugo Sanchez and Rodion in their Alien Alien guise, a little known side project that has released on their own label RoccoDisco and that has also featured on Get Physical back in 2012.

The two originals from Alien Alien come with remixes by Rodion in solo mode, plus Red Axes.

Alien Alien have in fact found lots of favour with the international queer community thanks to their ‘Sambaca’ tune, released on Berlin’s Slowmotion label, and ‘The Nights’, on San Fran outlet Discaire, both of which came with truly freaky videos.

‘One by One’ is the first track and it is a very poised and well-paced bit of lo-down disco funk. Searching synths spray across the face of the dark, rubbery track as a male vocal repeats the title’s refrain. It’s the sort of slo-mo chugger the ALFOS crews will love and is filled with menace despite being a sparse track overall.

Rodion then goes solo for a remix and in doing so layers in even more unsettling intergalactic synths and curious alien details. The groove, too, is made more rubbery and supple and really sweeps you up.

‘Soter’ then ups the ante a little with an arpeggiated bassline, crystalline synths and all sorts of weird and wonderful voices. It’s deep but direct and has a solid, chunky groove at its somewhat dystopian core.

The Red Axes remix is a more human and soulful affair with hip swinging claps, more arpeggiated lines and something of a classic jack feel to the raw drums.

This is a macho disco-tastic release from Meant that proves Alien Alien have many different sounds.

Tel Aviv’s brilliant @RedAxes turn in a beautifully complex, featuring big bells, guitars, and killer grooves… not sure how to describe this one, but it doesn’t seem wrong to settle on desert cowboy acid.

Fango's got another body defying 'Viscera 2/3' EP via Degustibus Music. After the first chapter through the interior organs, he turns his attention to a sliced up, deranged take on the cortex of the central nervous system.

With that said, here comes Cerebellum, Nervum and Cortex, three delicate operations of surgery on the inner workings of Fango’s head. His previous release 'Rectum' on Viscera 1/3 received strong support from artists such as Laurent Garnier, Dixon, Mano Le Tough, Tale of Us, Solomun, and Gilles Peterson - and was a huge summer hit. 

The second round of his three part release conceives on the physicality of music - creating tracks that pass straight through the heart, swirl in the stomach, and... so on. For this section - Fango invites us to explore the windy curves of the human brain - all in good fashion to instil nervous breakdowns across the planet. Live long and prosper (without your head exploding).

Viscera 2/3 will be available July 29th via Degustibus Music.

Thomas Neyens first left his mark on the dance scene under his alias Kiani & His Legion, with two releases on Red D's We Play House Recordings in 2013 and more recently on Something Happening Somewhere, quickly demonstrating his accomplished production flair. This led the Belgian establishing his own imprint, Tanzbar Records, where he dropped two EPs under his Far Out Radio Systems moniker – bringing a more 'dancefloor focused' sound. Now after a two year hiatus, Neyens returns to his Far Out Systems alias for this EP, his first offering for a label outside of Tanzbar Records.

'Spheres' kicks off the release, with its soft bassline perfectly complimenting the hazy synths, syncopated drums and the mesmerising nuances from the hang drum that feature later in the track. The slow burning style continues on 'Jane Goodall', with the track's atmospheric textures gradually overpowered by a steady selection of drums, percussion and off-kilter effects. 'Vaquita' sees Far Out Radio Systems up the tempo whilst still sonically retaining the melancholic, hypnotic sound of the EP, as the snare-led rhythm gradually gains in momentum over its seven minute duration. Closing this excellent four track EP is 'On A Quest', a pulsating number that combines soaring, ethereal synths with a club ready groove that is perfect for the shadowy dancefloors the Belgian DJ/producer performs to.

It’s that time again… Every summer Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant imprint celebrates another ground-breaking year with a far-reaching collection.

Ranging from palpitating ambience to chuggernaut technoid trips; the stirring 16 track set features late night creations from old friends (Red Axes, Zombies In Miami, Mike Simonetti, Moscoman) new friends (Simple Symmetry, Perel, Julian Stetter, ) and friends that have been Correspondant kindred spirits since day one, but have never had the opportunity to cast their magic on the label… Until now (Black Merlin, The Golden Filter, MR TC, Yula Kasp & Mi.ro).

As always, the vibe is deep, smoldering, emotive, innovative and unapologetically cosmic as we’re pushed headfirst into Correspondant’s boundary-less soundscape. From the coiled spring funk of Javi Redondo’s ‘Fictional Friendship’ to the hypnotic harmonics and trippy vocal textures of Uriah Klapter’s ‘Breeze’ via the slinky arpeggiated charm of Marvin & Guy’s ‘Cowboy Disco’, it’s another sublime excursion from one of the most consistent and considered imprints on the left side of techno.

Nothing Is Real welcome Low Manuel for the 6th release of the label. 

Low Manuel is a real music lover born in Italy in the 90’s.  His music vision is the expression of his character, introspective, dark and sophisticated.
His style is a mixture of indie electronic but also Techno and his compositions transmit emotions, influenced by the Stars and the Marine World. The 'Scourge Ep' explores new musical shades, hinting at moments of new wave through a lens of psychedelia.
The title track is a trip with an incredibly catchy rhythmic pattern and a strong bassline, while 'The Room’ has a ravey hypnotic and powerful touch.
The Italian duo Margot remix ’The Scourge’ delivering a strong version with their typical synth-driven kraut-techno style adding insane beats, fizzing synths and peaking chords for optimal dancefloor effect. While Nhar gives us his unique and introspective reinterpretation giving the track a mesmerizing deep electronic vibe, taking us to a journey between the bright and dark sides.
