The respected Madrid-based Sagan Club collective started its beautiful journey nine years ago. In order to celebrate the occasion, they decided to put together a four-volume compilation series, coming soon on Cenital Music, featuring some of the artists who have already rocked the boat and set the roof on fire at their previous memorable events: Delone, JackWasFaster (SXDNS219), LagreSca, and Hyman Bass, one of the resident DJs and founders of the collective, brought their own worlds to the first chapter, following a backbone soundscape but keeping true to their own characteristic sonorities and focusing on what really matters: Keeping the dance floor happy, baby!

Premiered here, JackWasFaster’s collaboration definitely raises the bar of the already solid compilation. The interesting title, “Ora Et Labora” – or “pray and work” in English –, refers to the Catholic monastic practice of working and praying – and Jack worked hard and meticulously to deliver such a mind-blowing cut. Did he pray? No idea. The important is the outcome: The gripping vocal hook, rhythmic synth lead, and exhilarating acid layer he put together deliver a powerful and imperative theme.

The Chilean producer Julian Garcia-Reyes under his project JGR, comes back to ODD Pleasures after releasing ‘Silk Android’ in the second ODD Pleasures V.A Compilation released earlier this year. This time the producer and important DJ of the Spanish Indie-Dance scene delivers two powerful tracks driven by bouncy bass lines combined with 80’s influenced spicy beats, his signature acid synths full of psychedelia blended with dark melodies and immersive atmospheres are the main ingredients of this journey to outer space.
The two originals are complemented with two remixes by Radial Gaze and Balam, which bring the originals to a whole new dimension, imprinting their vision and unique re-interpretation to round up this heavy package.
Radial Gaze’s reinvention of “Rocket Trip” imparts his twisted hypnotic flavors to the original, delivering a mind drilling experience. While Balam takes “Acid Trama” to an electrifying trance of latin percussion, wild synths and ghosty vocals.

A new figure sashays its way into Bordello. In one hand, a bouquet of carnations, in the other, a 12” record. Lauer. Philipp Lauer. Known for his incredible productions on labels like Running Back and Permanent Vacation, not to mention his collaborations, the German all-around good guy delivers four gems. The title piece radiates warmth, clean drum patterns giving way to beaming synth bars with vocoder lyrics bopping to the bass. Light hi-hats and a wet snare are the fertile ground from which choral key shifts break to squelching acid in this addictively diverse work. The energy levels spike, like a cork spearing its way from a champagne bottle, for the unbridled enthusiasm of “Frizzante”. Piano stabs, pulsating percussion and an infectious groove. The Summer sun may have set, but Lauer is still at the “Playa” with his playful finale. An off-kilter melody ebbs and flows on a string of rhythms, dreamy tongue-in-cheek synth play sailing this 12” off to the horizon.

Kicking off the New Year by announcing: "Nube Diamante," a collaborative single EP featuring an insane talent combination between @andrealacoste @mysteryaffair and @azaria_mad . The release is set to drop in the end of January 2023 and the original is sure to be a floor banger with a spectrum of sounds and lyrics that unfold like an exciting experience.

"Nube Diamante" showcases instrospective personals with peak time brushes, a piece reinterpreted via outstanding remixes from some of the hottest names among the indie dance / dark disco platforms. @chas.gracias remix is a tropical trance with latin touch, powerful bass and cowbells, then straight from Guatemala, @riveiby brings to the table a neo pop psychedelic pachanga driven by antagonic grooves. This EP also includes a remix from @ivan_delarouch , head honcho at Logical Records, a special collaboration from the Spanish artist @parissior and a bonus vocal rework from Andrea. The Tegels Boys ascend to cruising altitude with this four-track release featuring two original discotheque thrillers paired with top-flight remixes from Uj Pa Gaz and Franz Matthews. Fresh Acid Boogie from the cockpit!

Half Electric ft. Marvin Jam [Original] is a chunky, stomping, elastic, acid-disco, peak time slow burner, a hefty slab of relentless boogie built around a mysterious and unforgettable classic-rock guitar figure, whiplash cowbells, and a hungry 303 line snaking its way into the mix, a track aimed directly at the hips. Just as this throb is frothing over, things kick into a streamlined, disco pulse, the saxophone honk joins, and vocalist Marvin Jam intones a scorching soul-blues lament, a glorious build off into the horizon. On remix duties is Tirana, Albania-based Uj Pa Gaz, a talented live-electronic musician in his own right with releases on Tici-Taci, Heimlich, Esthetique and more, who goes right for the melodic core of the track, dropping a Chemical Brothers friendly big broken beat over a perfect marriage of blissed-out synth figures and sunrise arpeggio-pulse, a steady chug bringing the sexy sax back in play. A monstrous build brings Marvin’s vocals back and it's an all-out timeless body-ecstacy bounce.

Love ‘Em & Lear ‘Em [Original] A sultry strut out of the gates, Love ‘Em & Lear ‘Em demonstrates the Tegel Boys effortless sample-happy disco instincts, delivering a steady percussive-driver of a track, with inescapable groove. Head-bopping, shuffle percussion, and bass throb are expertly laid down with teasing robo-girl vocals flying in and around the mix, eventually building to muscular downtown-NYC-post-punk breakdown, making this a proper weapon in the right DJ-hands. The Franz Matthews remix is a decidedly shinier, crisper, laser-precision take on the track, featuring a souped-up hypnotic bassline, four on the floor drum mechanics, and a hefty dose of wild-safari escapades added to the core movement. Funky 80s synth-stabs and Red Axes kraut guitar jump on the train and take it to new heights.

Joel, Jeremy, Alican, and Antonio are pilots. The four Tegel Boys. The flight is fancy and it’s a foolhardy insistence that a parallel world still exists. First-class dreams, tacky and louche, vinyl seats, sticky cocktails, giddy highs, and lusty stomp. Polymath rock ‘n’ roll electronics that work a little less obviously, but feel a whole lot better.

Zombies In Miami - Horizon

No one day was the same since they'd upped sticks and moved to the city. It had been an adjustment in the beginning but soon they'd slotted into urban life like the years spent in the countryside had never even existed. The hustle and bustle; the never-ending list of things to see and do; any food you want at your fingertips; the freedom to be exactly who you want to be without any judgment - they could no longer imagine themselves anywhere else but here... 

Robi Insinna is gearing up for the release of a brand new album under his Headman alias. In the lead up to the release he's releasing a number of singles with his signature dub versions and remixes from friends and affiliates. The third track to be released is a homage to his love of the 90s, blending elements of Indie and electronica and calling on the vocal stylings of Mexican DJ and producer Vongold to complete the track. On top of the original and the dub, the EP comes with a remix from Leipzig trio New Hook and another track titled 'Live120'.
