On October 17th, the much-anticipated DGTL Paradise will break loose during ADE. Next to Jamie Jones’ tight crew of DJs, some spots were reserved for world-class acts not necessarily connected to the Hot Creations imprint. One of those artists is Sam Geiser, aka Deetron. This Swiss-born DJ/producer has constructed some classic cuts that find the perfect blend between the rough edges of house music and clinical techno. What you are about to listen to is a 60 minutes breakbeat bonanza mix loosely based on the concept of calling cards. The idea dates back to the pre internet days where die hard beat diggin fiends would gather all information available from every record store as a part of the search for those obscure weird records that might have a drum break or a dope sample. Back when Records stores felt like heaven, a calling card was like a ticket to fulfill your dreams.

Calling up a number listed on a calling card you never know what to expect. Maybe the line is dead, the connection is lost, or you find yourself having found what you were always searching for…

Bio:
ScratchMagic and Steen Rock are Copenhagen based DJ’s and beat diggers. They have both cut their teeths in the danish hip hop underground by DJing for underground legends as Hvid Sjokolade, Klart Dér! and Stilen R Profilen as well laying down cuts on numerous danish hip hop releases. Both of them played a big part in Nobody Beats the Beats while also for years having DJ’ed shoulder by shoulder at places like legendary Saxons, Rust, and Vega among others places.

They also share a slightly disturbing passion for breakbeats and have collected records from every corner of the world for just 10 seconds of pure drums!

Ending the year with a number of my favorite purchases this past year. Maybe one or two of these I actually "dug" up somewhere - the Dick Drew Trio was something I pulled out from deep under other record racks in a store in Las Vegas last May, for instance, but I also bought several of these via Discogs. Record collecting continues to change in ways that make it less familiar to me - many records are now status symbols for wealthy people to show off rather than listen to, when previously they were "status" symbols for many of us in terms of our digging commitment or record knowledge. Actual "digging" for records isn't something I've had as much time for, but still what I love. But shout out to the amazing dealers who are out there with the rusty shovels every week, finding these gold nuggets for the rest of us! And huge, huge thank you to all the people tuning into the podcast - you are massively appreciated!

Part two of a trilogy of mixes from the "Diggers Dozen" event that I put on in Brisbane, Australia back in 2014. Each of these themed mixes each feature 12 top-tier records hand picked from the Bulletproof Crates played out live on 2 turntables, mixer and a Kaossilator.

This second mix is the 45 Crate, featuring some little 7" vinyls dug up in dusty record stores, flea markets & junk shops in the depths of France, Poland, Czech Republic, Japan, Amsterdam, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Australia and the US. Tune into some dusty downtempo drum heavy proto hip-hop, funk, psych, soundtracks and electronic weird gear.

The next and final mix in this trilogy will drop soon and be nothing by 12 of the hottest library joints you'll ever hear!
