Freestyle rapper Cory "Knowaries" founded the collective while a member of Chicago based "riddim riding" aka beat jacking hip-hop trio "Familia Treez" in the mid 2000s. Songs are often first and only improvised takes, often using loop pedals or organic beats made with guitar and beat boxing. Self-produced since 2010, the group has continued to cultivate a sound and fan base combining reggae, hip-hop, punk and other world and folk styles. A fun act live, the group and its rotating cast love to entertain, share love, and embody the concept of Knowaries.
