The Nate Horsfall Experience is a collective of musicians collaborating over the internet to make prog-heavy video game arrangements. It mainly consists of myself, Glenn Elliott, Grant Henry, Dan Taylor, Kevin Lawrence, Hugo Silva, Joshua Cortese, and of course master prog musician Nate Horsfall. Members rotate in and out depending on the track. Most of the arranging is done by Glenn, though this track is the one time thus far I stepped up to arrange something for the group.

Obviously it is a conceptual mash-up of "Hot Head Bop" and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", mushing the motif of Hot Head into the form factor of Shine On. Usually I take liberties with the style and note accuracy of my arrangements, but this time I took a lot of care to try to keep it as close to the Floyd track as possible--down to copying some of the solos note for note.

This was probably the biggest collaborative effort on a single track that I've done. And I'm super thankful for all the other musicians of TNHE that helped me make this arrangement possible.

I guess that fits in with the ‘90s nostalgia? I feel like I’m breaking the rules of the compilation here a little bit."

Tribute Album 64

UPDATE - November 18, 2010.

So the [band] is planning a remix album of Secret Handshakes, with a lot of the remixes being done by other bands and a good bit being done by the actual fans. The [band] set a deadline for submissions and released more stems for us fans to pick at. Naturally, I tweaked up my mix and sent it in.

Now I'm not going to say whether or not my mix will make the cut until the band decides to announce the winners or further details about the possible remix album. But we'll say for now that I think my chances are good.

For now, I'll leave the rough mix up. If my mix is to be on a remix album, I'll let that be on the market for a bit before I upload the refined mix. Likewise, if it doesn't make the cut, I'll put it here.

The band is Tub Ring. The song is "Touching the Enemy" from the album "Secret Handshakes". To promote the album, the [band] leaked stems of various tracks from the album and encouraged fans to post their own remixes. This is what I am doing now.

As the track stands right now, it is very roughly mixed and lacks guitar (which should be added within a week). From there, the mix will be a bit more polished. For now, I'm uploading it to let people hear and get an idea of what I'm trying to do. The only elements from the track I kept intact were the vocals and a chopped up version of a drum loop. I then mashed up a new melody to complement the vocals.
