The LA-based indie rocker Blondshell named her second album, ‘If You Asked for a Picture,’ after a line from a Mary Oliver poem. “Something I love about songs is that you’re showing a snapshot of a person or a relationship,” she tells SoundCloud, in this exclusive commentary, on the album tracks. Taking inspiration from bands like Queens of the Stone Age and Red Hot Chili Peppers, she says that “it’s empowering for me to use sonic references that feel reserved for men.” On opening track “Thumbtack,” she picks up where she left off with her self-titled 2023 debut album; “Event of a Fire” is the heart of the new album, she explains, while “Arms” is “a pillar song.” Listen now, only on SoundCloud.
