By delivering groovy basslines alongside mysterious electro breaks, Turk's productions and sets are taking everyone out of their comfort zone.

Having just presented one of our recent Free Download tracks, we just couldn't wait to hear how Spanish talent would approach a mix for our InSession series. Followers of this growingly indemand artist may perhaps be surprised to hear his chosen direction, but this is by no means a bad thing as his recording will attest. It is clear from his usual DJ sets and of course his on point productions that Ildec is to become more than a force to be reckoned with.

Melding all manner of electro gems with forgotten classics such as “Rocker” and “Italian Fireflies” Ildec is not just an artist that pushes brand news sounds. This is a mix that treads the borders between Ambient, Electro, Italo, Synth Pop, and even New Wave. Ildec clearly knows his history as well as what it takes to craft a set with a more downtempo slant. With the BPM’s not ticking over into peak time mode there is no need to push the pedal right to the floor as Ildec gives a refreshing masterclass in refrained heat.

The first-ever live recording from an elusive icon of dubby electronic music.

Lore is an underrated quality. Neuroscientists have mapped that music elicits similar feelings in the brain to when we satiate cravings, but what about the psychological impulse that drives listeners of a certain disposition toward everything they don't know?

It's tricky to put your finger on, but artists able to conjure intrigue without overhawking the backstory can really cut through—just ask SAULT, [ar:pi:ar] or Gerald Donald. Then there are those who don't try whatsoever. These are the ones who stay in mind the most.

In 2001, a striking 12" called Ship-Scope emerged through Chain Reaction, credited to Shinichi Atobe, with no other info available. Okay, mulled fans, this is probably a cat-and-mouse game dreamed up by someone on a label with a fine line in foggy obfuscation. Vainqueur on a wind-up? Another Moritz 'n Mark alias?

But no: Atobe was real, and really had posted a demo to Hard Wax. It was that simple. Then he went back to his day job—until, after 13 years of silence, an even better follow-up emerged.

From the near-perfect Butterfly Effect onwards, Atobe has built up one of the most revered catalogues in underground circles. A steady clip of elegant, transportive dub techno and deep electronics has arrived on Demdike Stare's DDS, complimented by the launch of his own label, plastic & sounds, earlier in summer 2025.

Atobe has also made strides into the public domain, DJing intermittently, as well as performing live for the first time in 2023, gracing WWW at the tender age of 52. It's that debut 2023 show heard on RA.1009: a hypnotic yet comparatively pumping set full of Atobe staples, as well as material you won't find anywhere else.

Contact with the big man, as you might anticipate, is glacial: since we first reached out, the RA Mix has changed name, look and rolled over into its second millennium. Still, patience pays off. This is a one-off we're stoked to run. – Gabriel Szatan

SEED005 is from an artist i very happily stumbled across during some time spent in bristol, fig. her standout contributions at accidental meetings: saccade were enough to go on, but Grace's unspoken, tangible energy was what made me approach her to tackle a seed mix.

i'm thankful grace has shared this journey with us, a raw reflection on how change can feel so internally unsettling and disruptive- while outwardly having to persevere. 

'this is a sonic reflection of my experience of weaning off sertraline too suddenly, coinciding with a time of significant change. this made for an emotionally challenging period of readjustment.

i wanted to capture the raw, messy moments of discomfort and tension, while also acknowledging the fleeting softer moments that felt more accepting. it mirrors my experience of navigating through change - unpredictable and abrasive but not void of of light and clarity.

making this felt intuitive and honest. I haven’t made sense of everything but I’m slowly learning to find comfort through going with the flow.'

We’re delighted to share a true collectors item of a mix; a 7 hour b2b from Jane Fitz & Carl H, recorded at Transmissions in Studio 94, London in December 2021.

Some live recordings need to be put out quickly before the music ages and the records become overplayed, but not this one. It could be from any time over the years as timeless-tune-after-sought-after-banger are built and blended with the kind of precision and flow that can only come from DJ’s like Jane and Carl. 

From the low-slung start spanning EBM and downtempo gems through to the tunnelling psychedelic crescendo, this is a true masterclass in how to build and pace a set… and it sounds just as incredible today as it did on the night.
