Please, let me thank you very much for enjoying my first edit on Cesaria Evora's Petit Pays. Continuing in the same vein, I thought of proposing a new edit on a song by a young and wonderful singer born on the island of São Nicolau in Cabo Verde: Lucibela. The solid performance at the congas of a dear percussionist friend accompanied me at the piano and keyboards and cross the whole song becoming predominant in the second part of it: the percussive abundance is now out of the mix, totally changes the song taking it by hand and carrying to the south, towards Brazil ...

About Lucibela:
Lucibela was born in Tarrafal on the island of São Nicolau in Cabo Verde on April 18, 1986.  She began to show an interest in singing at a very early age.
Lucibela participated in the Sfinks Festival in Belgium then, in October and November 2017, she recorded her first album in Lisbon with Toy Vieira to the realization, one of the most famous Cape Verdean musicians of the local scene, who accompanied the greatest voices in the past, Bana, Titina, Tito Paris, Cesaria Evora, Lura and many others. 
With the album named Laço Umbilical (Umbilival cord) released in February 2018, the chanteuse is determined to conquer the scenes of the world.

The Huli are believed to have laid down roots in Papua New Guinea as far back as 45,000 years ago. Most of the Huli people are from the town of Tari, and many still live according to the traditional ways. “The Huli men are famous for their unique custom of creating and wearing impressive wigs decorated with feathers. They also wear bright facial paint in red, yellow and white — colors originally chosen to strike fear into their enemy in times of conflict. Nowadays, they usually wear them to sing and dance.”. The so-called Wigmen make their wigs out of their own hair and weave them with feathers from the island’s 700 bird species. Each feather carries its own symbolic meaning (such as strength and courage). “The forest in which we live is essential to us. It provides for all our needs, it is sacred, and I would do anything in my power to protect it,” writes Mundiya Kepanga, a 53-year-old Huli Wigman, “I hope that by helping people to better understand my culture, they will also respect our environment.”                                                                                                                    This is the new Shango Records compilation entitled “A Wigmen Town Called Tari”. Après la révolution cubaine de 1959, cette boîte de nuit fut détruite.
Quarante ans après sa destruction, son nom fut repris pour un projet musical, imaginé par Nick Gold de la maison de disques World Circuit et le guitariste américain Ry Cooder. L'idée de ce projet était de réunir dans un même enregistrement des musiciens cubains « campesinos » (soneros légendaires des années 1930, 40 et 50), et des musiciens d'Afrique de l'Ouest. Retenus à l'aéroport de Paris, les Africains ne purent se rendre à Cuba, et finalement l'enregistrement de l'album s'effectua sans eux.

L'album enregistré en 1996, "Buena Vista Social Club", rencontra un tel succès que le groupe fut incité à se produire sur scène à Amsterdam en 1998, suivi de plusieurs concerts au Carnegie Hall de New York.
Le cinéaste Wim Wenders fut sollicité pour les filmer. Il en fit un documentaire, en ajoutant les interviews, effectuées à La Havane, des différents musiciens. Le film fut lui aussi intitulé Buena Vista Social Club.  
                                                                                                                                
The Buena Vista Social Club was a mythical nightclub in the suburbs of Havana, Cuba (located at &quot;Calle 41"; between numbers 46 and 48, in the Marianao district). After the Cuban revolution of 1959, this nightclub was destroyed.
Forty years after its destruction, its name was taken up again for a musical project, conceived by Nick Gold of the World Circuit record company and American guitarist Ry Cooder. The idea of this project was to bring together in the same recording Cuban &quot;campesino"; musicians (legendary soneros from the 1930s, 40s and 50s), and musicians from West Africa. Held at Paris airport, the Africans were unable to travel to Cuba, and finally the album was recorded without them.

The album recorded in 1996, "Buena Vista Social Club";, was so successful that the group was encouraged to perform in Amsterdam in 1998, followed by several concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York.
The filmmaker Wim Wenders was asked to film them. He made a documentary of it, adding the interviews, carried out in Havana, of the different musicians. The film was also called Buena Vista Social Club.
