In their version, Gio Israel & OHAD transformed the original’s melancholic ballad about the despair of a hopeless love into a fascinating & groovy electronic tale, characterised by its sexy baseline, glorious trumpet and extremely pleasant electronic sounds, while keeping the original's enchanting melody and legendary vocals by Jacques Brel. Today we share with you an old yet special project for us. Similar to our love for humans like Gil Scot Heron, Jimmi Hendrix and folk heroes from our home country of Iran in our music, Chavela Vargas has always been another source of genius for us. Celebrated for her 'rough voice of tenderness' and her haunting performances, she was (is) a true powerhouse of a woman. In one of her songs she says (translated):

'I'm not from here, nor from there
I have no age, nor future
and being happy is the color
of my identity'
.
Her words are visceral. Given our hyphenated backgrounds with Eastern roots coupled with a Western upbringing her words became our medicine. Given this, we had to make our interpretation of her song which we've played live and in our online sets. Today is the day we share this project with you.
