MkII Church Organ 2 + Intro 
Usually the old big Trons had some ‘surprises’ (like applause or intros) on the first key of the left manual. Pressing the lowest key of the ‘Church Organ 2’ used to start a short (rather ‘vintage’) organ introduction. To allow the ‘Church Organ 2’ to be fully blendable with any other Memotron sound, we did not integrate the intro in the previous version (No.8). Nevertheless, for all friends of the original assignment of the MkII keys we added ’the Hottest Sound of the Sixties’ in this bank here. Have fun!

MkII Muted Brass
In contrast to the famous ‘Brass’ which was neighbouring the ‘Violins’ on the MkII’s Channel 2, the warmer ‘Muted Brass’ on Channel 4 could not be blended with the famed strings. Unsurprisingly, this mellow brass is less known than the brighter ‘Brass’. Both comprise a saxophone, a trombone and a trumpet but were mixed differently. KING CRIMSON used ‘Muted Brass’ on their first albums for dramatic musical effects. Especially thinner sounds gain a lot when they are blended with this marvellous brass.

MkII Violins (Speaker)
For decades, people wondered why the ‘hollow’ ethereal Tron string sound of the mid-60s’ records (e.g. ‘Days’ by the Kinks, the Beatles’ ‘Flying’ or the psychedelic Rolling Stones song ‘2000 Light Years from Home’) was so different from the well-known MkI/II or M400 violins though these artists apparently used the usual tapes. In his last interview (1995), Les Bradley finally disclosed the secret: as the first MkI/IIs were not provided with a line-out, consequently the recordings had to be made by microphones, using the internal speakers. Hence, experimenting with different microphone positions at the sides of a 1965 MkII, we finally found the ‘hot spot’ where the Tron (besides its own 'living noises') revealed pure psychedelic magic. Patrick Moraz Stage Sounds
The Swiss keyboarder extraordinaire Patrick Moraz came in 1973 as Keith Emerson’s successor to the new progrock group REFUGEE (ex-NICE). Only a year later, he replaced Rick Wakeman in YES before he joined the MOODY BLUES in 1977. When Moraz’ first solo album ‘The Story of I’ came out in 1976, he asked STREETLY to convert some special custom sounds from this production to the Tron tape format to be able to reproduce his massive sounds live on stage. Could it be that we hear Jon Anderson’s voice (YES) in one of the 10cc-like choir sounds?

If you ever wanted to play something like Rimski-Korsakow’s ‘The Flight of the Bumblebee’ by only one finger, here is your chance! These special string phrases belong to the rarest custom sounds of the whole Tron library and invite you to experiment with them.

13	Patrick Moraz Violins B
The ‘Violins B’ seem to be recorded especially for Patrick Moraz. Different from the known ‘String Section’ or the ’12 Violins’, they sound more direct and aggressive, thus fitting best for quick and forceful string arrangements.

TD ARP Fuzz Guitar
Like the previously in our BERLIN SCHOOL and BASIC library published ARP noises, this Pro-Soloist synthsound of an electric guitar was directly taken from a genuine TANGERINE DREAM tape frame. Finally enabling TD to play it polyphonically, you can find this specific sound spread all over TD’s recordings of the 70s.

TD Recorder
Despised as an instrument for children, it is astonishing how often the recorder found its way into the pop history (e.g. the Beatles’ ‘Fool on the Hill’ or Led Zeppelin’s studio recording of ‘Stairway to Heaven’). TANGERINE DREAM now and then used it since the 70s. TD’s present keyboard player Thorsten Quaeschning recorded us this amazingly breathy sound that puts the finishing touches to any kind of woodwinds, be it the oboe or the clarinet.

17	MkII WATCHER (Speaker) Bass Accordion (1-18)
Perfectly matching our ‘WATCHER (Speaker) Mix’, these ‘Accordion Bass Notes’ (of course taken from the MkII’s speakers, too) offer an unrivalled bass foundation and are even fatter than the line-out version that we had released before.

With the spectacular opener of their fourth album ‘Foxtrot’, GENESIS raised a gigantic monument for the MkII Tron. With its massive combination of ‘Accordion Bass Notes’ from the left keyboard and a blend of ‘Violins’ and ‘Brass’ of the right lead section, ‘Watcher of the Skies’ instantly became a mellotronic trademark. For years, musicians tried to recreate this incredible noise without taking into account that Tony Banks’ sound was microphoned from his speakers and not taken from his Tron’s ‘clean’ line-out. Consequently, we recorded this strange ethereal noise true to original directly from the internal speakers of an old MkII.

MEMOTRON 'VINTAGE 4' Library Demo

Here comes the fifth demo of the latest Memotron library featuring the CHAMBERLIN and its noises. Being a true aficionado of the organ, Chamberlin built the world's first drum machine in the late 40s or the early 50s. Allegedly the idea for his very first drum machine had come to Harry’s mind when his unreliable drummer did not turn up for a gig. His later Rhythmate 35 was housed in a loudspeaker cabinet with a 12 inch speaker that is driven by a tube amp. 14 tape loops in the 3/8 inch format (the same as in the later Tron) offer various rhythms like Waltz, Cha Cha, Rumba, March and even Rock. A slider moves a single tape head from one three-track-tape to the other, offering altogether 42 sound combinations. A rumour says that Chamberlin’s son Richard played several drum tracks himself.

Apparently this clean recording was made with an electric guitar where the low action caused the buzz on the lowest notes. Further up the guitar neck, the player added some light vibrato. Yes, that was what the 50s’ and early 60s’ public surely liked. Remember, those were the days when clean, undistorted sounds of guitar bands like The Shadows or The Ventures were in line with the trend. Still we are light years away from the fuzz boxes of the future and those wild feedback orgies of a Jimi Hendrix.

A piano sound was and still is vital if you want to sell an instrument for the domestic use. Certainly Harry Chamberlin was the first to offer the world a ‘sampled’ piano. In those days when no e-piano or serious organ piano-preset was in sight, Harry’s ‘Piano’ must have blown people’s minds. Do you remember how even in 1983 the meagre piano sound of the first FM synths thrilled the musical world? It was not until the digital sample technology appeared that a realistic piano sound was at last on hand, and this happened nearly forty years after Chamberlin!
