It felt amazing to let myself go this way last Sunday at Sisyphos Berlin. What an incredible crowd that merged everything together to become one unique thing, under fast but yet trippy and warm beats. Many tracks were loaded into this set. It's a constant combination of different elements, external drums, loops, my own bass lines and pads through Ableton Live, with the support of my beloved MODEL1 mixer which I use to sculpt the frequencies trying my best to make it all sound as if it was one single evolving track.

When Chicago footwork vet Jana Rush sent us her exclusive Bleep mix, we were surprised to see it was labelled ‘chill mix’. Her 2021 masterpiece Painful Enlightenment is anything but; it’s a maniacal record that defies the genre completely, fuelled by discombobulated rhythms, disarming samples and unsayable darkness. But sure enough, Rush delivers a downright lovely hour of laid back beats with her mix, in which even 150+ bpm cuts seem like gentle, rolling bubbles when they underpin choice smooth jazz samples and expertly placed weight shifts from hooky juke and strangely amniotic synth adornments.

Kiana (@ndikooo) splits their time as a DJ and as the New York staff writer at electronic music publication Resident Advisor, where they primarily champion queer and POC artists across the US dance music underground. Coming of age in the Lower East Side, their love for techno and East Coast club grew in tandem with their interest in electronic music's rich Black history, as well as the dance floor's potential as a community-building tool. This background now informs their journalism, as well as their various radio mixes, where their affinity for percussion-heavy club music, groovy techno and sultry house is brought to life. 

Kiana's crates go deep in every direction, but this particular mix is an entrancing jaunt into house music. They blessed us with a mix chock-full of vocal-heavy ear-worms that traverses the more sensuous and melancholy corners of the genre, rounded off with brief moments of joyous reprieve. 

The cover, as always, was illustrated by our friend @/noah_prebish and recreates a scene where Kiana & friends were all scrambling to identify one of the centerpieces of this mix. We hope you enjoy : )

With the latest mix in our series, New York producer, DJ and musician AceMo, takes us on a late-night adventure through the hyper-dimensions of breakbeat science. Looping the rhythmic, sample-based psychedelia of jungle/drum and bass until time becomes a circle, AceMo pays homage to the histories of breakbeat-oriented club music on both sides of the Atlantic ocean. In the process, he reaffirms the reverence, style and skill that have positioned him & his constituents as some of the most important forces to emerge out of New York in recent years. Lost In Destiny or not, AceMo’s train is on schedule.
