Founded by @daiguana & @dokomodo Reptilian Business Records aims to be an independent label of hybrid music, with the goal of promoting the fusion of electronic rhythms, organic samples and traditional instruments, through the vision of local and international artists of all kinds. From tribal house to dubstep UK, from psychedelic cumbia to dark disco, from slow trance to indie dance, everything that purrs and reflects its scales, which squeaks and waves at the same time: reptilian music.

About the VA "GECKO BLASTER"
This VA puts the spotlight on 8 countries, represented by twenty artists from radically different scenes, from the Parisian organic underground to the dubstep soundsystem scene of Brooklyn, to the downtempo and schnekno of Berlin and Frankfurt, Swiss lo-fi , Japanese experimental, or slow house drawn from Brazilian forests, not to mention the participation of locals from the french southwest who offer organic jungle, slowed dark electro or tribal slow trance... A musical diversity which has a common denominator love for psychedelia, distortion, depth of bass and sharp rhythms like the claws of an arboreal monitor lizard.

About the track
Barbarella is the mind behind Pauken & Trompeten, a great multicultural electronic music party organizer in Germany. She is also an accomplished DJ and forward thinking producer. For the occasion she composed for us a piece melting latin roots and riddims with deep smiley synths and trance-infused melodies into one downtempo track only she knows the fabrication secret.

About the EP:
Īśa (ईश) is the name of a deity who was imparted with the knowledge of the Dīptāgama by Sadāśiva through parasambandha, according to the pratisaṃhitā theory of Āgama origin and relationship (sambandha). The dīpta-āgama, being part of the ten Śivabhedāgamas, refers to one of the twenty-eight Siddhāntāgamas: a classification of the Śaiva division of Śaivāgamas. The Śaivāgamas represent the wisdom that has come down from lord Śiva, received by Pārvatī and accepted by Viṣṇu.
The Isha Upanishad (Devanagari: ईशोपनिषद् IAST īśopaniṣad) is one of the shortest Upanishads, embedded as the final chapter (adhyāya) of the Shukla Yajurveda. It is a Mukhya (primary, principal) Upanishad, and is known in two recensions, called Kanva (VSK) and Madhyandina (VSM). The Upanishad is a brief poem, consisting of 17 or 18 verses, depending on the recension.

It is a key scripture of the Vedanta sub-schools, and an influential Śruti to diverse schools of Hinduism. It is the 40th chapter of Yajurveda. The name of the text derives from its incipit, īśā vāsyam, "enveloped by the Lord",or "hidden in the Lord (Self)". The text discusses the Atman (Self) theory of Hinduism, and is referenced by both Dvaita (dualism) and Advaita (non-dualism) sub-schools of Vedanta.

Ohxala - Upai (Original Mix)

Tonfigur, like Sakuro's music has a double meaning. In German, it translates to a clay figure, while also the word "ton" can be used in reference to a sound. The shaping of substance and sound is of particular interest to Sakuro, as you can hear in his debut album. The double meaning you will hear, is regarding the play of dark and light, electronic and organic. With deep, booming bottom end, and sparkling and floating horns and percussion. Down-pitched and distorted vocal samples, paired with clear and crisp vocal contributions. Sakuro has spared no detail, there's something almost secretive and esoteric about the LP, it's a heavy listen that will leave you feeling light. Yes, it can do just that.

Romanski is another agent evolving transcultural hybrids, which blend from retained folkways to modern aged club grooves.
A mixture of electronic beats in a rigid machine order and handmade organic moments woven together to form an eclectic sound. With a bit of drama, the hamburg based dj & producer Romanski, invites you on a diverse journey with his unique vision of club music.
Balearic groove patterns accompanied by repetitive bongo motives & dimmed synth themes flow along the 4 tracks (2 of them featured on 7" vinyl) of this EP. The title track "Karma Calling" is a passionate homage to Mulatu Astatke, "Tagh Tagh" is surrounded by an Iranian children’s song, "Gaugin" features a Tahitian vocoder line about the french painter and on "Ants" Romanski reflects on lyrics that came to him when resident at a sanatorium years ago.
Romanski is using his custom sound range & tools to express his downbeat grooves in this well balanced release. Hide below or turn around the umbrella with devotion and delight.

 This 2nd VA gathered by the reptilian mafia presents a darker side than the first compilation. You will get to hear some delicate sound design from Paris-based bass addict Machka, some deep and mellow brainfucking downtempo from Swiss duo Los Pashminas, and heavy industrial breaks from our friend Mawen, sound engineer of our first release and talented producer based in Bordeaux. Oceya turns the next page with a psychedelic soulful downtempo track, tingling your agmydala with her distorted vocoded voice, opening the path for Toulouse-based bass music queen Jan Loup and her high detailed and overdriven footworking dubstep. Danniel Dhnl follows with his classic gimmicks of "Tribal Guaracha" straight from México, then Nour Kara also from Toulouse, delivers a dark technoïd yet organic tribute to Iranian women fighting for freedom. To close the deal, Da Iguana & Doko Modo prepared some trancey downtempo rooted in earth but crossing the cosmos, Islyz a heavy drum & bass track with reptile skin-like textures, and our close friend Meo is the goodbye giver, with some forest-infused, muddy yet delicate "popperstep" made with his good old octatrack. This compilation is a powerful source of energy, a medicine for cold blooded people, and thus, had to be called Gator Aid.

Da Iguana & Doko Modo - Un Nomade En Arctique  [Reptilian Business Records]

After sampling him on my track Ekara Po, here is an edit of one of my favorite songs of african electronic music pioneer Francis Bebey. He is one of my heroes, a true inspiration, and his "Sanza Tristesse" is a song that can literally make me cry from melancholy and sadness. But it is at the same time a heartwarming tune calling for love and joyful memories of lost ones, a soothing song for our fragile human hearts. And it made me think, why not bring these ambivalent emotions on a dance floor, as dancing puts you in special receptive moods? I hope you will hear my love for this song, enjoy!
