As a producer, @loekfrey is amongst the most exciting voices to have emerged from the influential Dutch scene in recent times. Balancing intricate experimental with abstract elements of IDM and techno, Loek’s sound is both compelling and forward-thinking.

His recent LP release on @woodyninetytwo’s @omenwapta is the perfect embodiment of this sound, slipping gracefully between hallucinatory sound design and irresistibly propellant rhythms. With other releases slated for release this year, Loek finds himself in an ascendant moment.

Consisting of unreleased solo and collaborative works, Loek Frey’s Patterns of Perception 108 feels like a glimpse into the future. Winding combinations of reflective and vibrant energies counter and build, illuminating an engrossing yet unpredictable flow. Clusters of intuitively sequenced beats writhe beneath constellations of alien-like glitches. Unsettling textures diffused by shimmering crystalline sophistication.

Previous Bassiani Podcast guest Marius Bø is the Oslo-based co-founder of trance collective Ute. From its nascent beginnings in the frozen woods, the efforts of this band of electronic kinsmen has expanded to include remarkable events in striking natural locations and running three record imprints. Their unique approach to dance music is a conduit for a manifestly Scandinavian and handcrafted blend of the most ethereal and cutting-edge sounds out there. For this next Zenaari mix, the Norwegian selector reveals a more introspective and stripped-down side, offering a journey into the esoteric realm of memories, dreams and other plains. Softly crackling, fuzzy, yearning, this other side is a beautiful score that gently laps its ambient hum against any preconceptions his Ute followers have come to form. Its synthesised radiance is a particulate mist you enter into and emerge from, a haunting call that wistfully conjures a different kind of woodland spirit. Marius’ stargazing requiem, an immersive two hour trip for the mind, iridescent and strangely shimmering sounds from the ether.

It's an honor to welcome Amsterdam's Loek Frey to our series, whose meticulous attention to detail and eminent experimentalism command the mind's attention like no other. The OQAD label head and Omen Wapta collaborator invites us to peer delicately beyond the edge, unveiling a hyperintense, subsonic blur through which a primordial palette begins to emerge. Reeko, also known as Architectural, started DJing in the late 90s and producing in the early 2000s, and he has released countless timeless records since. He founded the labels Mental Disorder and Evidence and was part of the PoleGroup collective for a decade. Collaborations with Surgeon, Oscar Mulero and Exium, as well as releases on many legendary labels, are part of his discography. Having made a name for himself through a string of choice releases for the likes of Nous’klaer and Delsin, Dutch producer Konduku has been turning heads with his ever innovative take on the techno medium. Pushing for new directions, Konduku’s been laying down intriguing blends of dubbed-out, Afro-infused grooves and plural strains of abstract-leaning, breaks-friendly hybrids. The present mix showcases the breadth of his influences and essential components, extrapolating techno’s genre-transcending nature through a fine mix of heavily verbed-out electronics and shape-shifting buildup, never quite going where you’d expect it, rather seeking the excitement of suspenseful arcs and unsuspected developments. Tangela’s meteoric rise through the underground scene finds its origins in her late night radio show ‘citrus’ on Eora / Sydney’s iconic FBi radio 94.5FM, currently in its fourth year of broadcasting all things “squelchy, wobbly, gooey, twisty”. Her signature style has translated from the airwaves to dance floors across many of Australia’s cult clubs, DIY warehouses and bush raves, including her own as founder of both dstreet and Minutiae Festival. A name impossible to ignore in Australia, Tangela’s sound has been shared internationally via Boiler Room, Future Intel, Lyl Radio, Refuge Worldwide and more.

Versatility is her strength. Equally in her element slowly building though chuggy downtempo, wiggy tek, and dubby breaks as she is whirling through percussive techno, minimal psy and floaty trance. Her sound is undeniably psychedelic, & one with deep connection to the Australian bush she soundtracks so regularly. Organic textures transport you to moments stomping in leafy clearings, hazy morning rays poking through the gumtrees, alongside thumping kicks drenched in subby, dubby, gurgling undertones.

It’s back to the Norwegian woods with Mikkel Rev for Bassiani Podcast 259. Alongside Oprofessionel he moonlights as Omformer, and co-spearheads the Oslo-based UTE collective, famous for offering mystical forest raves, memorable club nights and their take-home recordings via digital/vinyl outlet UTE.REC (and sub-label Translusid). Trance is the main thrust, but an updated and savvy manifestation of it that’s more than suited to 2025, furnishing its breakneck rhythms with the experimental slant of its IDM and ambient forebears. It’s an elevated approach to a known genre, and perhaps at the bleeding edge of its future potential, keeping sound and woodland birthplace tethered crucial to its mission. As well as a number of EPs out on his homespun label, he’s apt to explore the fringes of his sound and export its singular voice across the map: intelligent trance with a strong emotional charge. This latest instalment keeps that promise with Mikkel on top form, an hour of cathartic beats recorded live at Bassiani: supernatural and stylish fare for sylvan nighttime gatherings.
