The human blink is controlled by the subconscious. The reflexive closing movement of the eyelids clean and protect the eyes. When we blink, the visual centre in the brain is regulated. Therefore, we do not consciously perceive this whole process and the briefly reduced incidence of light. On average, this procedure is conducted 10-15 times per minute. In moments of great excitement, joy or concentration, we can blink significantly less often. Due to the excessive focus, the blinking becomes a consciously controlled process for a certain amount time. The first Joe Carl EP on KataHaifisch contains two tracks. We are delighted to welcome @klouterss aka Jerome & Polo to the Hug Records family with a 7 track EP including remixes by @huehuemusica, @guaraci_uirapuru & in this case Swiss artist @rblomusic.

As always we invite you to meet the human behind the music by asking them three questions, in this case answered by Jerome.

1) What is your favorite book to read? ->  It's not my favorite book, but it's one I feel compelled to share. It's "Solaris" by Stanislaw Lem. This book is a gem. It's metaphorical and profound about human thought and the beauty of the world. Some passages made me understand colors and senses that don't exist in everyday life, except maybe in a trip.

2) If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have? -> The power I would like to have as a superhero is not needing to sleep. Sleep represents one-third of our life; not needing sleep would allow for more time for oneself, passions, and maximum partying.

3) What's the longest you've gone without sleep (and why)? -> In relation to what was said before, I have already gone nearly 42 hours without sleeping. Why? Enthralled by the musical vibes and the excitement of a fantastic festival, there's simply no need for sleep. Those are the best moments of our lives.

A while ago I decided that I want to release not only downtempo music but basically all of the music I’m creating. These days there is a lot of talk about “branding” and “not releasing outside of your genre” because some people say you have to be clear about what you are selling. In other words: “be a good product”.  But screw that!!!
So here we are.. I made an Hip Hop Instrumental “mixtape”  that is completely based on sampling. That is actually the music I started out with 15 years ago. It was a beautiful experience and somewhat relaxing to get back to those production teqniques and those very simple arrangements. All of those songs represent very short snippets in time and only try to capture one simple mood without going out of its way to do so. If you are looking for complex sound design or surprising arrangements you won’t find that in this release. It’s only crackling and humming simple moody beat!
For the first 5 days you will find the Songs on Bandcamp only. Btw, if you really want to support an artist band camp is the best way to do so. May 21st the release will go online on all other streaming platforms. 
Speaking of may 21st.. that’s the birthday of @toolime who made the wonderful cover for this release so don’t forget to gratulate him!
