In 1965, thousands of people came together at the Royal Albert Hall in London to hear readings from poets Allen Ginsberg, Adrian Mitchell, Gregory Corso and Michael Horovitz at The International Poetry Incarnation. The event later came to mark the emergence of 1960s counterculture, and in celebration of its 50th anniversary this year, the Serpentine have invited musicians and poets, including Michael Horovitz and Andrew Durbin, to the Pavilion for the second Park Night.

Serpentine Park Night 2: On Poetry

Fleur Melbourn is a London-based artist who works across sculpture, film and installation. Her work explores the catastrophic as an attempt to unpick the peculiarities of the human condition. In this new commission incorporating film, theatre and philosophy, Melbourn presents a performance at the third Serpentine Park Night, in which figures from the afterlife discuss mortality and the notion of blasphemy.

Serpentine Park Night 3: On Art & Philosophy

In an evening exploring bodily integrity and invasive procedures, artist Marianna Simnett presents a musical performance accompanied by footage from her recent films, The Udder, Blood and Blue Roses at the fourth Serpentine Park Night. Working with video and drawing, Simnett’s recent body of work explores themes of sexuality, innocence, corruption and martyrdom. Her videos often involve collaborative processes with non-actors playing themselves in heightened, suspended realities.
