Matthias Vogt is a German musician, DJ, and producer whose work seamlessly bridges jazz sophistication with electronic innovation. Born in Rüsselsheim in 1970, Vogt trained as a jazz pianist before venturing into club culture, eventually co-founding the deep house duo Motorcitysoul and the jazz collective [re:jazz]. Over three decades, he has become a versatile force-releasing music that spans deep house, ambient, IDM, and broken beat, always infused with his improvisational touch and love for organic sound.

His solo career has flourished with standout projects like Polytonality (Polytone), the politically charged Pianissimo (Infracom!), and Ten As One (Reflections/Anjunadeep), featuring collaborators such as Hans Berg, Johanna Klein, and Sato. In 2025, his Lost EP on Moodmusic showcased both soulful vocal work with Fola Dada and nods to his Frankfurt club roots.

A regular at iconic venues from Cocoon Club to Tresor and Blue Note Tokyo, Vogt has toured extensively across Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Americas. Whether performing live with a band or behind the decks, his sets and productions carry an unmistakable warmth-rooted in musicality, informed by jazz discipline, and driven by a curiosity that refuses to be confined by genre.

Vogt’s enduring appeal lies in his ability to create music that feels timeless yet current, sophisticated yet dance-floor ready-a rare balance that continues to inspire listeners worldwide.

Our man Tiago was in town recently for some gigs and was nice enough to come out to Kane studios to record a podcast, hang, and have some liquid refreshments. Hailing from Lisbon where he is a weekly resident at Club Lux, Tiago has a laid back intensity that is reflected in the expansive and inquisitive nature of his sets. Raised on good music in his home, turned on to drumming by his older brother, he came to Dj'ing via live music. He has been at it for close to twenty years, and in the last decade added production work to his resume. Another month, another shot at unleashing some excellent tunes that are dying for a rinse on the Openlab airwaves. Another mixed mag across some soul and disco with a grip of house and a couple edits for good measure.  I’m kicking things off with my friend Eugene Tambourine’s North Satellite followed by a couple jams that have been heavy in rotation this summer.  The mid part get into some tracks I’ve really been loving from Biggabush, BowAsWell and Vanessa Worm. A Boards of Canada mix

Around 2002 Boards of Canada created a microsite with some interactive motion graphics which were accompanied by short loops.  I made this (unofficial) remix back then with some of the samples from the site.

Cottam shot to notoriety in 2009 with three limited edition 12”s that blew up the underground deep house and nu-disco scenes with no advertising and no info – combining neo-soul, afrobeat and hip hop with slo-mo house grooves all three sold out in double quick time and ended up in many ‘best of 2009’ charts. 
Since then, Cottam has concentrated on developing his own style of sub-aquatic acid house – remixes for Luv Jam on Phonica’s label, Pattern Select on Delusions of Grandeur and Morning Factory on 20:20 Vision offshoot Fina have complemented original tracks on Quintessentials, Wolf Music, German undercover label Story and the summer anthem ‘Sunrise Sunset’. The journey continues with his most accomplished tracks yet on the Deep Deep Down EP for Aus Music and a remix for Geoff Leopard on Endless Flight due out early 2012. He hasn’t completely given up the re-works either with Cottam 4 seeing Plantlife get the treatment and there is even a Cliff Richard remix doing the rounds! Cottam is biding his time with much more music to come next year (when his toddler starts nursery) and he can devote more time to production.
A burgeoning career behind the decks has seen Cottam DJ around the world from London & Ibiza super clubs to the dirtiest basements of Berlin and Manchester. A studio mix recording can never match the off the cuff ideas and crowd interaction of a live set, that can take in anything from Balearic disco edits to rough techno slowed down to a sexy shuffling tempo, classic house to euphoric disco all mixed with a skill, grace and swagger, topped off with a trademark cap.
