Being known as the producing part of „Pardon Moi“ and a key artist on the UK’s Nein Records Label, Freudenthal comes up with a new remix of Amsterdam based Sinchi Collective on Emerald and Doreen Records. Here we go with an exclusive first listen of some of his magic disco madness.

Iñigo Vontier delivers the third take of Calypso Records. Inspired by a local mexican tribe called the "Huicholes" or "Raramuris", Vontier delivers three tracks full of hypnotic rythms and ritual chants accompanied by Dreems on remix duties. To begin the ritual, "Wirikuta" will take you to a higher state of consciousness with Huichol chants and horns. As a wake up call "Marakame" will hit you in the guts with a straight forward drumbeat and sharp synths. "Maxa" does the work for a mental trip with chants that comes and go with psychedelic guitars on top. To finalize the ritual, aussie wizard Dreems comes with a more foward version of "Wirikuta" that somehow mix a new age feeling with the tribe vibes.

Conga Fever - Chihuahua (ZEHN EP)

Brainchild of Multi Culti A&R, Sascha Funke and Niklas Wandt were introduced by Dreems, who charted a course for the seasoned Berlin-based producer and funky multi-percussionist and singer. 

Wandt was just about to enter the scene forcefully with his collaborative 2LP with Wolf Müller and the debut single of his band Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge. In the icey cold of his warehouse rehearsal space, Funke had him record a variety of slapped, bowed and scratched percussions (congas, talking drum, prepared cymbals played with a bass bow) over his tracks. These first efforts were later expanded into joint sessions at Sascha's home studio and, within a few weeks, the journey reached it’s destination: Wibe strasse, Deutschland.

At first glance, they seem an odd couple: a techno veteran of almost thirty years meets a side-burned upstart socialized in Free Jazz and Krautrock. but the shared sonic influences come through in the hypnotic, dubbed-out sound, perhaps rooted in the close connection the two share to the Rheinland region in West Germany, Funke as part of the Kompakt family and Wandt by origin and socialization in the Cologne and Düsseldorf music scene centered around the Salon des Amateurs. Regional flavours, global appeal. Multi Culti, promoting local collaboration, one freaky record at a time.

Alma & Mater - Please Don’t Intend To Let Your Intellect Dominate You

On the heels of the success of their very sought-after Edits EP, which found support from the likes of Gerd Janson, Ame, John Talabot, Axel Boman and all our other favourite DJs, ALMA & MATER are providing their first full-on solo EP for Ancient Future Now. And they have an urgent message they like to convey: PLEASE DON’T INTEND TO LET YOUR INTELLECT DOMINATE YOU, freely adapted from a quote by the one and only Susan Sontag, as you can hear for yourself on the first track, the aptly titled SUSAN. And the music around it follows suit; no heady over-complication here, instead we get no-nonsense basslines and grooves and an almost too catchy marimba melody, that will surely dominate your feet. The second tune BLOCKCHAIN follows this path, this time the magic ingredient probably being a cowbell that swirls over the hazy synth pads and bouncy basslines. On the flipside ADA (Pampa, Areal) delivers a delightfully subtle and complex remix of „Susan“, which exposes its inner beauty even more and more after repeated listening. Framing the tune in her unique velvety melancholic world of sound elevates the track to a wholly different level. Rounding off the EP is HADE’s BELGIUM MIX of the same track, which perfectly compliments the other remix by going in the opposite direction. Instead of smoothing off the edges he exposes them even more, adding sampled old-school bass and drum sounds with a twinkle in the eyes.

Center Of The Universe aka Dj Sissyfus is a Norwegian electronic music producer who recently turned his output into a mixture of unique ethno disco & warm synthpop. Live, he presents us with enchanting lyrics, catchy melodies, pinches of acid and clarinette playing. He has been releasing close to 15 albums, performing in numerous live bands and has been running his own label Metronomicon Audio since 2000. 

Center of the Universe has been active in the Norwegian underground music scene since 1998 and has in addition to participating in several other projects, found the time to release a whole host of solo albums, including a trilogy where the theme was space and time. It is difficult to give a clear definition of the band’s musical impression, as this tends to change from release to release, but it would not be wrong to say that melody is always at the center. What apparently may begin as a pop song entice you into a world where nothing is as it seems and musical expectations are seldom met. For the Center of the Universe no surna is too high and no bass too deep. He has always walked off the beaten path next to the road less travelled and keeps trudging on in a landscape where the sun shines, vulcanoes erupt and it’s raining guitars, sitars and just plain’ol tars.
