BACKGROUND:
July 2007, College buddies JC and Earl on a jam session during their free time found out that they had the same music influences. During that time Earl, Jessie and Jom2x were on the same band together called Leakage and JC had a band on his own. When Leakage disbanded, Earl, Jom2x and Jessie decided to form a new band and it didn’t took time to recruit JC into the club. The four decided to name the band “Counterpoise Minora” Counterpoise meaning a force or influence that balances or equally counteracts another and Minora because of the band’s love for minor keys.


The band made their first appearance in 2008 playing in local bars, Cebu’s major events and campuses. For the time being, JC played the guitars while doing vocals for the band. Realizing that the kind of music that they were playing was too mainstream, they decided to add a little touch of metal in their music learning from different genres from alternative, experimental, progressive, hardcore, trash metal they added a new guitarist to the lineup. Ram2x Sabanpan officially joined the band and together they created a different kind of feel to the music they used to play.


In 2009 the band made a big step by joining the likes of Urbandub, Powerspoonz, Bethany, 40 Diaz, Mindfool, Stallions of the Burning Church, Streets of May, Cuarenta, Picturefilled and many more in one stage at the “Visayan Music Festival” held at D’ Family Park in Talamban Cebu City. It is where the band played their single “Silent Eyes” for the first time.


After Visayan Music Fest the band decided to record Silent Eyes as their first official single. The band continued to play at gigs. When Ram2x left the band, Counterpoise jammed with Decadance guitarist Dave Orat. He shared his own kind of style of music with the band which made the single even more better than it once was.

While waiting for the single to be finished Counterpoise Minora was back on track with the new guitarist in the lineup and on October 31st of 2013 they finally released their new single and can hopefully finish their EP
