We’re hitting the ground running on this next one as Toolroom welcomes mysterious UK duo Wh0 & Brighton powerhouse Kideko for their main label release. Teaming up together on ‘Soul Searcher’, Wh0 & Kideko bring a fresh touch to the label with a sound that skirts the world of 2000’s Daft Punk French House vibe but with a more refined edge. 
 
Wh0 have released on Toolroom and the sub label Toolroom Trax previously, with the killer ‘Real Good’ & Dombresky collab ‘Take Me Away’, Kideko on the other hand makes his Toolroom debut. An established name in the scene already, Kideko has released cuts on Ministry of Sound, Stress Records, Realm and many more, collaborating with artists such as Friend Within, Armand Van Helden and Kudu Blue to name a few. 
 
Although we might not really know who Wh0 are, given the result of this record, it’s clear to see that the duo are a perfect match for a collab with Kideko. Together, they have dropped a full blown, feel-good House production. From the get-go, ‘Soul Searcher’ hooks you in with its incredible use of the 1976 classic D.C Larue ‘Cathedrals’ sample layered with tough drums and plenty of weight to keep those dance floors moving. 
There are some awesome brass hits that swirl around the filtered-out rising piano chords and a killer vocal ‘Don’t stop the music now it’s deep inside my soul’. Safe to say Kideko & Wh0 have absolutely smashed this!

Thirteen years after its release, Duck Sauce’s first single “aNYway” still feels as fresh as ever. The feeling is undeniable, one that reaches deep into your soul and uplifts you. It’s the song that launched A-Trak and Armand Van Helden’s celebrated collaborative project, one that is still kicking strong in 2022 with the Ducks performing to massive crowds at Coachella and Tomorrowland. Paris’s Oden & Fatzo continue to make waves with two-track EP ‘RAW’, in collaboration with fellow genre-hopper THEOS. The EP comes hot on the heels of their recent Defected success with London’s Camden Cox, ‘Lady Love’, which earned the underground favourites major radio support on BBC Radio 1 and internationally, including France’s Radio FG and FUN, Australia’s Triple J and 538 in the Netherlands, dominating the summer season with its undeniable energy. For their follow-up EP ‘RAW’, the boys enlist the help of THEOS, a Paris-based producer, DJ and pianist whose improvisatory style has grabbed the attention of choice selectors Chris Stussy, Herr Krank and Kerri Chandler. The lead, ‘Set You Free’, is a club-ready belter built for the late nights, featuring acclaimed house vocalist Queen Rose whose previous collaborations include Luke Solomon’s ‘Light You Up’ and ‘Love. Hope. Happiness’. Next up, ‘Fly Away’ featuring French vocalist Noa Milee shows the group’s affinity for classic house vocals, syncopated synth harmonies and shuffling dancefloor-ready beats; both tracks are bursting with subtle production details, demonstrating the group’s vast range of disparate musical influences.

“krypt. vol2 is the second instalment of my ‘krypt’ EP series. It’s a mixtape-like EP, named after a ‘crypt’ (underground vault holding the remains of a person); in this case it’s my musical vault with several new + old tracks I’ve had in my unreleased catalogue. It touches various genres like the previous one, from garage stuff to a bit faster house, to slowed down nu-disco. I rarely get inspired by current music, most of the time I’m listening to records at least 15-20 years old but wondering how they would sound if they were made today.

The EP also features two songs (Never Enough, L.U.V.) with my own lead vocals, which a first for my releases thus far. I really enjoy making longer music projects which is why I’ve always gravitated towards LPs and albums, as a producer and a listener. It allows you to dive in a bit deeper in the mind of the creator and see where their emotions lie across a longer body of work. A single often doesn’t have enough power to allow you to see behind the curtain.”
