Number 35 is a very special one. Influeced by post-punk and cold-wave DJ Varsovie delivers a unique podcast "Novembre, Mon Amour".  

Active on the Paris Techno scene since 2014 within the Container collective, DJ Varsovie gradually detaches himself from codes to reach an aesthetic closer to his memories and the tragic first loves of adolescence.

Inspired by Nino Ferrer and Michel Fugain, but also Benassi Bros and Cabaret Voltaire, DJ Varsovie is dreaming of crooning on the stage of a beach bar.

The alchemy of techno is forged with a variety of tools. In darkened concrete crucibles, flowering tongues of light leap lapping across flesh slick with sweat, as bass hammers the shape of the sound into the minds throbbing within. In a city that both reveres and takes such institutions of arcane aurals as commonplace, what revelations may yet be gleaned on the dance floor?

The sonic world of Halv Drøm delve deep into this burning question. Weaving science and spirituality into well-established engines of industrial, EBM and post-punk, Saxon Jorgensen’s work seeks to break out of the confines of “dark” music (by this point an overused descriptor, particularly in these crumbling times) to shape something far more imperious and personal. Whereas techno is so often used as a sledgehammer, Jorgensen wields it like an ice-sculptor with a chainsaw.

Rooted in an appreciation of personal magick and political upheaval, accordingly a strong DIY aesthetic is Halv Drøm’s backbone. Field recordings, guitars churned into shrieking maelstroms, binaural frequencies that sidle beneath waves of polyrhythmic experimentation, and a willingness to go beyond comfortable dance patterns are all in play here. Modern electronics and ancient chakra tonal systems form a ritual of harsh healing; imperative in our time.

Barkosina's main influence comes from the Czech underground scene where she grew up. Arriving to UK and staging obscure performance art events RUN, she also hosted three years regular radio show "Contradictions” where she experimented with post-punk, electronic synthpunk and techno. 

Her Dj sets oscillate in between Ambient noise from crepuscular drones to syncopated rhythms, Industrial EBM and from bottom of her heart heavy bass, kicks and vocals. Her mixes evoke stories, their titles are cautionary. These sets/scenarios attempt to explore a complexity of emotions, as in life, its never the same…
As the half of YOD, Barkosina is blending poetry, dark romanticism, corners of Post-Punk, Industrial music movement and rave culture. YOD has released music on Death & Leisure, Khemia, Veyl Records, She lost Kontrol and more to come…..

Barkosina has been performing and playing in venues across London and Europe sharing the stage with the likes of Orphx, In Aeternam Vale, I Hate Models, Schwefelgelb, HUREN, Samuel Kerridge, Codex Empire, Halv Drom, Silent Servant, Alessandro Adriani, Broken English Club, Morah and many more.

"This podcast is mainly made up of dance-floor focused bangers that I'm liking at the moment - it's a pretty good representation of how I play at the club with a mixture of dark/hard more industrial tracks with some moments of fun and euphoria in between. It starts off pretty dark and industrial, and then calms down and provides some brighter sounds in the middle, returning to the dark sounds at the end. I feel like it also shows the linkages between the different eras of techno - there is tracks from the 90s, from the early- to mid- 2000s and from today in there.

I'm always trying to tell more of a 'story' when I DJ and try to show off a diverse mixture of sounds - and how they relate to one another. Sticking to one style has always been incredibly boring for me - I hate seeing one-dimensional DJ sets and I also hate playing DJ sets in just one style. I think this mix, like all my mixes, reflects that desire for eclecticism in DJing. Really the DJs I look to for inspiration are more those crazy people that could play anything at any time in a set - people like Optimo when it comes to house music, or someone like Parrish Smith with harder sounds".

Blush Response is Joey Blush, a Cuban-American artist and sound designer hailing from NUC who now resides in Berlin. Blush cut his teeth doing programming work for artists such as Fear Factory, Rhys Fulber, Cristian Castro, and as a touring member of Joey Jordison (Slipknot)'s alternative rock project Scar the Martyr. A fascinating, vibrant new artist, frequenting the outer realms of post punk, industrial, techno, you-name-it and has a plethora of releases on cd, vinyl, digital and even cassette tape format to date on labels like Sonic Groove, Aufnahme + Wiedergabe, Ant-zen, and Total Black

The intention behind blush response is to always push the limits of sound, structure, and perception, creating a modern version of what he perceives industrial music to be: brutal, inventive, uncompromising and always innovative. Throbbing Gristle, Surgeon or Front 242 have left audible traces in his sound, and his goal is to recapture the core spirit of these originators, and then to evolve it even further. Performing on hardware synthesizers is a big part of the essence of Blush Response. His approach is very ‘hands on’ and thus 90% of the changes you hear on his sounds are done by hand without any automation. Blush believes in performative gestures over cut and paste editing, and strives to explore the limits of human-machine interactions. His live performances are 100% improvised and mostly unplanned which includes mistakes and happy accidents, and this philosophy is also reflected in his studio work.

Blush Response's music is characterized by a heavy approach to sound design, combining rough, glitch-heavy beats with thick, distorted synths. Pounding, head-tripping kick drums intermix with abrasive, dark sequences generating huge walls of cavernous sonics. A pulsating slice of straightforward noise-filtered techno with a good dose of industrial and EBM influences while blush's improvising skills enable a sound that blurs the lines between these genres. A barely tamed beast, biting and piercing holes in eardrums and somehow magically managing to make your feet tap along or, at considerable volume, rave.
