We no longer need to introduce DJ Babatr — founding figure of the Raptor House movement and a true pioneer of Venezuela’s electronic scene. From the streets of Caracas to dancefloors worldwide, his raw and vibrant sound blends tribal percussion, urban energy, and futuristic electronic pulses.

Couvre x Chefs had the honor of hosting him for his first club show in France in October 2023 at Petit Bain — a defining moment that marked the beginning of a lasting connection between the producer and our label.

Two years later, this relationship comes full circle with the release of Pedro Le Dino, an explosive and organic EP, due late 2025 on Couvre x Chefs. With this new project, DJ Babatr continues to push the boundaries of his sound, weaving techno and trance influences into the relentless rhythmic intensity that defines Raptor House, asserting more than ever his unique vision of contemporary electronic music.

Featuring four original tracks and four remixes by Couvre x Chefs members — BJF, Scarlett, Tévéa and Tim Karbon — Pedro Le Dino stands as a vibrant testament to the ongoing artistic dialogue between Caracas and the French electronic scene.

Merca Bae Presents: Down Theory, the second instalment in the label’s artist-led curation series, arriving 13th November. Curated by Merca Bae, the compilation delves into the landscape of Downtempo Bass music, intertwining between Dancehall, Tarraxo, Breaks, and Reggaeton.

Through this release, Merca Bae spotlights the wide scope of Downtempo music and its continued presence across global underground scenes. Over the past few years, club music has trended toward higher BPMs and relentless, fast-paced energy, but Down Theory offers a space to explore slower, weightier & sexier rhythms as a way to embrace slower, bass-driven music in a club environment.

The project features contributions from Chá Di Lirian, Grindalf, and Entrañas, alongside established producers styn and Faraonika, and introduces Unayo and Tempo Fino, who debut their first productions under new aliases.

Down Theory offers a cohesive yet wide-ranging snapshot of contemporary low-end experimentation.

Written and produced in early 2025 in Villa Urquiza, Buenos Aires, Retrospective Frequencies finds El Plvybxy in a state of full reflection, a producer revisiting the rhythmic roots that shaped his sound while projecting them into new hybrid forms.

Conceived as a continuous work rather than a simple collection of tracks, the album connects hard house, tribal house, raptor, techno, bass, and traces of traditional guaracha within a fluid and percussive framework. The result is both physical and introspective, music that carries the pulse of the club while evoking the sweat, the light, and the emotion found within darkness.

Each track functions as a reinterpreted memory. Asuntos Subacuáticos opens the record immersed in a Drexciyan atmosphere. Warsnare Dubs (ft. Ngenko) blends dub echoes with Latin percussion and a guiding vocal presence. Bump por Bump and Venga drive the body with raw groove and hard groove structures, while Los Cabures (ft. Rooi) and Bohemio del Sur (ft. Imaabs) explore friendship, distance, and the shared rhythmic language connecting cities like Córdoba, Santiago, and CDMX. The closing track, Goze (ft. DJ Babatr), stands as an ode to Raptor House, a direct collaboration with its creator that condenses joy and tension into a single piece.

Throughout Retrospective Frequencies, El Plvybxy transforms nostalgia into movement. The album works as both synthesis and farewell, the end of an emotional stage and the beginning of a new era where rhythm, memory, and identity merge in constant mutation.

There’s something unpredictable about Pralaya. One moment she’s behind a piano chasing chord progressions that could score a love scene, and the next she’s twisting those same harmonies into syncopated 160 bass chaos. Based in Saint Petersburg, this classically trained musician fell down the rabbit hole of footwork — and instead of keeping it academic, she got her hands dirty, producing, sampling, and even trying out the moves herself (turns out it’s way harder than it looks).

Her EP Are You Ready? marks the first on the digital release series on SDR, and it couldn’t be a better way to start. The project feels like a love letter to rhythm itself — soulful, funky, and unpredictable in all the right ways. Some tracks carry that hip-hop swagger, flashes of attitude that nod to her love for the genre, while others lean into R&B warmth and Chicago grit with Northern cold vibes.

Each track deserves a full listen: there’s no filler here, just groove experiments stitched together by feel and instinct. To close things off, Fourtwenty Sound comes in swinging with a hyper-jungle flip that turns the EP inside out without losing its soul.

✿ SWINE PREMIERE ✿ We have the honor of premiering the track "Juguito Resucitador" by @entranas. His new album "Los Cueros Al Sol" will be out on the newly formed Quito-based label @six_eight_music led by Entrañas, Ene Ese, and Zunfo.

∎ Recognized as one of the most prolific emerging producers of Latin American electronic music, Entrañas presents his second album Los Cueros Al Sol, a project that redefines his sound through a deeper connection with tradition, instrumentation, and his personal narrative.

∎ This album represents his most organic work to date, incorporating recorded instruments and showcasing Entrañas himself on guitar throughout several tracks, along with drums and guitars recorded by guest musicians. The album offers an exploration of local rhythms, reimagined through his unique production style, characterized by carefully crafted sound design and rhythms full of distortion and energy that dissolve between textures and atmospheres. 

∎ Alongside these traditions and sounds, aggressive and enveloping basses and synths emerge, accentuating the hybrid nature of his work. True to its title, Los Cueros Al Sol, an expression that evokes the idea of laying bare the truth, of revealing oneself raw and without artifice, the project draws on everyday life in Quito, the hometown of Entrañas, with song titles reminiscent of traditional street foods. This intimate resource anchors the music in the land and memory, interweaving its local identity in every detail.
