R.E.D is killing it atm ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

No one does it quite like R.E.D (Sophie Red). A DJ and producer born and raised in Wales and known for having her toes dipped in all things liquid and swampy. Now based in London, Sophie has built a renowned reputation in the underground scene which has landed her many appearances on radio shows and streams such as The Lot, Netail Radio and her residency show on Balamii 
The ethereal artist first caught our attention at Floorless festival which some might say is the UK’s cutest intimate summer gathering, as she compelled us with a late Sunday afternoon set in the rays filled with dubby infused, deep tones and rhythms that really hit our souls! Since then, R.E.D who is also the mega mind behind R.E.D Waxxx Records, a London based multi-genre label has spoiled us with many nights of hypnotic atmospheric music. 
In this 1 hour mix R.E.D takes us into a deep, chuggy wormhole that will melt your ears.....

1. How and why did you get into producing / dj’ing?

I have always been doing music since about 8 years old. Used to write my own music with my guitar / bass and singing. I started producing before DJ’ing making all sorts of music from electronic to post punk. When I started to DJ was when I went to uni about 7 years ago, I channelled all of my musical upbringing into this and really focussed on the sound I wanted to DJ.

2. Who, What/where was your most coziest gig you've been to or experienced and why?

I think there are two shows that come to mind here. The first was in about 2017 at a festival called Festival No.6 in Portmeirion Wales. I was with my family and it was raining, one of the venues was a big beautiful hall. We stumbled across a poet called Mike Garry who was collaborating with composer Joe Duddell. It was cosy and emotional as everyone was getting dry from the rain. 
The second cosiest gig I have been to was just as the world started to open up post Covid and gigs started to happen social distantly. I remember a night I went to Ronnie Scotts one evening and watched one of their in house jazz bands, unreal low lighting cozy vibes. 

3.Are you an introvert or extrovert in the industry?

I have always been an introvert even though I may come across as an extrovert at times. 

4. If you had to choose 1 track to vibe out too forever, what would it be?

Everything in its Right Place by Radiohead. Everytime! 

5. What is your routine when preparing for a gig / production/writing session? do you have any special remedies/ mental prep/ places to go to? :)

Ahead of shows, I usually do a face mask in the morning, do a some sort of work out/walk to clear my head, take my vitamins, a ginger shot & go through my records/rekordbox so I am prepared. 
Ahead of a production/writing session, make some sort of herbal tea, write down what/who is making me feel inspired at that time, make sure I plan regular breaks and get locked into the zone.
