[ I chant appreciate and praise Lord Arihantas, who are destroyer of karma, conquerors of love and hatred, founders of the Four (uplifting) Tirthas and who cause luminiscene in the entire universe.  I salute and bow down to the Twenty-Four Tirthankars and all other Ominiscient Lord’s (Kevalis). ]

Logassa Sutra

The Ratnakar Pachisi is an epic poem written by a monk who was found by his junior to be hiding a diamond (monks are supposed to have no possessions). The poem is a long statement of remorse by the monk who admits to his weakness and personal insecurity, and crushes the diamond, opening the door to liberation. This expresses the Jain value of Aparigraha which demonstrates that possessiveness is a form of greed and attachment and restrains us from realising true and lasting freedom.

Ratnakar Pachisi

The Ṇamōkāra Mantra (Sanskrit: णमोकार मंत्र, Tamil: ஐவர் வணக்கம்), also variously referred to as the Navakār Mantra or the Namaskār Mantra or the Pancha Parameshti Namaskār, is the most important mantra used in Jainism. While reciting this mantra, the devotee bows with respect to humans who have cleared their gathi karmas (arhats), fully liberated souls (siddhas), spiritual leaders (acharyas), teachers (upajjhayas) and monks.

In this prayer there is no mention of any names, including that of the Tirthankaras. Jains do not ask for any favors or material benefits from the Tirthankaras or from sadhus and sadhvis. This mantra simply serves as a gesture of deep respect towards beings they believe are more spiritually advanced and to remind followers of the Jain religion of their ultimate goal of nirvana or moksa.

Ñamō Arhantāṇaṁ [I bow to the Arhats]
Ṇamō Siddhāṇaṁ [I bow to the Siddhas]
Ṇamō Ayariyāṇaṁ [I bow to the Acharyas]

Maṅgalā ṇaṁ ca savvēsiṁ, Paḍamama havaī maṅgalaṁ
[This five-fold bow (mantra) destroys all sins and obstacles
and of all auspicious mantras, is the first and foremost one]

उसभ-मजिअं च वंदे, संभव-मभिणंदणं च सुमइं च.
पउम-प्पहं सुपासं, जिणं च चंद-प्पहं वंदे……………..2
usabha-majiam ca vande,

pauma-ppaham supäsam,
jinam ca canda-ppaham vande

सुविहिं च पुप्फ-दंतं, सीअल-सिज्जंस-वासु-पुज्जं च.

suvihim ca puppha-dantam,
siala-sijjamsa-väsu-pujjam ca.
vimala-manantam ca jinam,

vihuya-raya-malä pahina-jara-maranä.

आरुग्ग-बोहि-लाभं, समाहि-वर-मुत्तमं-दिंतु………….6

ärugga-bohi-läbham, samähi-vara-muttamam-dintu

चंदेसु निम्मल-यरा, आइच्चेसु अहियं पयास-यरा.
सागर-वर-गंभीरा, सिद्धा सिद्धिं मम दिसंतु…………….7

✿ Logassa Sutra – लोगस्स सूत्र ✿

Bhaktamar (‘Bakth’+‘Amar’) is a very popular Stotra among Jains, daily recited in so many families. According to Jain scriptures, Acharya Mantungacharyaji, a Jain muni, wrote Bhaktamar Stotra in Stuti (praise) of Lord Adinath. He wrote this in prison, as he was put behind bars by Raja Bhoj for not showing his mystic powers. Such was the power of his Bhaktamar shlokas that each of the forty eight prison locks unlocked miraculously one by one as he completed writing the Stotras.
