Discotopia @discotop is a DJ and music producer from Voronezh whose work is rooted in deep exploration of electronic music – from studio production and DJ sets to curatorial and radio projects. He has performed at numerous showcases and festivals, shaping his sound through both live and studio experience.

His releases have appeared on respected international labels including Jungle Gym Records, Mesmerism, Electronica Records, Get Busy, Diffuse Reality, m_division, welofi, and others. Discotopia is also the co-founder of the independent labels PAUZA and Raw Union. He is currently working on a new multi-genre full-length album.

With more than ten years in radio broadcasting, he has hosted author programs on TEST FM and OTO Radio, and currently curates “Russkoye Pole Eksperimentov” and “Fantomas” on Local Radio, exploring experimental Russian electronics and 90s rave culture.

His mix of Soviet electronic music for InRussia was recognized by Mixmag as “Mix of the Day”, and his track “Odinokiy Passazhir” was featured among the best tracks of the year by the same publication.

Here's the second BDP mix. Felt compelled to get on with this as there are some beautiful tracks I left out of the first part. Edit: some extra words in 2024 - I've revisited this mix and its predecessor countless times, and reckon they're among the best things I've done, insofar as presenting some of my favourite music in a respectful way; this is all I ever wanted to achieve. I discovered three BD remixes while compiling this second part, which are almost piss-takingly good, along with more gems from Parallel, Trainer and Bytes. (Most of my faves from Temple Of Transparent Balls appear on Part 1, which made me sad to not get to play them again, but rules are rules). There's so much fine detail to absorb in their early work, and it doesn't get any better than the Rising High EPs. Collectively forming a mini-album of some of the finest electronic music in existence, these have accompanied me over the years from vinyl and CD to tape to minidisc to ipod, and I must have listened to them a thousand times. The two lead tracks are here: Balil's Parasight is a prime example of TBDs effortless fusion of dense acidic techno with a beguiling middle eastern flavour, and as for Atypic's Otaku ... well, no words can do it justice. The proto-garage beat alone merits a paragraph of chin-stroking. It could only be followed with the adorable 3/4 Heart, Bytes' closing track, the blend pretty much reprised from Eclectic Mix Part 1 as I couldn't find a better way to do it.
