Glaswegian producer Fear-E returns to Dark Entries with Mechanical Music for Brighter Days. Scott McKay has been using the Fear-E moniker for the better part of the last decade to explore rave-inflected acid techno as both a DJ and producer. Since 2016, he has released on lauded labels such as Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, Don’t Be Afraid, and Super Rhythm Tracks. He made his debut on Dark Entries previously with Grey Skies in a Dear Green Place in 2019. 
	Mechanical Music for Brighter Days contains six diverse tracks that are united by their unbridled energy. While Fear-E centers DJ functionality, these works are not to be dismissed as mere DJ tools; they ooze personality and display subtle mastery of varied rave idioms. “D10S” and “Gladiator Rhythm” offer chunky electro beats, muscly synthlines, and ethereal sci-fi pads harkening to both Detroit and Den Haag. Elsewhere, such as on “El Bimbo de Oro” and “New Cycles”, Fear-E channels the kind of raw, high-impact techno that would have been at home on labels like Djax-Up-Beats or Tresor in the 90’s. But the tracks on Mechanical Music are knowing without descending into pastiche - Fear-E’s clever production techniques keep things fresh. All tracks were mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios. The artwork by João
Ervedosa features a rave nostalgic neon yellow and slate gray color scheme with blocky robotic text.

They marched in with a bang, swinging steel and shouting loudly in the pale glow of the morning light. The street was woken up to the sound of heavy boots on concrete and the roar of sirens as they swarmed the towerblock. This was the sweet sound of the terror police, their batons banged loudly on shields, guns raised and weapons drawn for what might come next. Young onlookers watched on from hazy windows, glancing out into the fog to see what all the fuss was all about. Elders would quickly hurry them away from the window for fear of being spotted themselves. This was the dystopian future. 

Posthuman are set to release a stormer of a new EP on Cyberdome, a rip roaring EP built up of grunge laden acid, electro beats and reckless abandon. The record is rounded off by a remix from DMX Krew, a perfect package.

Self Learning System present their very first record and deliver a new label focussing on conceptual work as well as interdisciplinary art in full effect.

We believe in the human mind as a self-learning system - creators and originators connected all around the globe aiming to keep the scene alive. We want to cultivate a community and platform for exchange with other artists pursuing music, design, art and events.

Our first strike comes as “The Arrival Of Unisex & Ernst”, a split EP of the two labelheads to introduce themselves and the sound of SLS. The record contains six analog hardware tools ranging from classic Electro to Industrial.

SELF001 also includes an A2 inlay print of Dominik Widmanns acrylic painting „Fabric“ (as pictured). His artworks will cover our first three records, fitting perfectly with the cold and futuristic soundscapes we want to showcase.

Self Learning System is based in Leipzig, where we work together with the local R.A.N.D. Muzik record pressing plant and InchByInch distribution.

2021 has been something of a banner year for Central Processing Unit. Less than a decade on from its first release, the Sheffield imprint brought up a century of catalogue items earlier in 2021 with Cygnus’ fittingly-titled ‘100% Dope’ EP. 

Reaching such a milestone would cause many to pause and reflect on their achievements. However, as well as taking stock, CPU has continued to drop new music at an impressive clip - Blackploid, Silicon Scally and London Modular Alliance are just a few of the cult favourites to issue new material via CPU in the past twelve months.

With FASME & Maelstrom’s Lotus 48 EP, CPU round out 2021 with yet another cracking electro collection. For the latter, this is par for the course - Maelstrom’s catalogue stretches back to the 1990s, and the one born Joan-Mael Péneau has already delivered two fine records on CPU in the past. However, Lotus 48 represents another line in the sand on account of it being Fasme’s label debut.

No matter who is at the controls, Lotus 48 carries itself with a panache which signifies that Fasme & Maelstrom are both in their element here. Many of the tracks are anchored by the sort of snapping machine-funk grooves which have become something of a calling card for CPU down the years. 

That said, as well as club-ready rhythm work, Fasme & Maelstrom also deliver some gorgeous synth textures which evoke the golden age of Boards of Canada and AFX. A-sides ‘Almond Blossom’ and ‘Ciliae’ both follow this formula fabulously well. The bass and drum programming will delight those who have enjoyed recent CPU drops from Cygnus, Silicon Scally et al, while technotronic synth pads open up hidden depths.

The title-track kicks off Lotus 48’s B-side with another sleek, slick beat. After introducing gurgling basslines and ghostly tinklings of synth, ‘Lotus 48’ soon locks into a slamming breakneck groove which is sure to send the dance into raptures. It’s an energy which carries through to closer ‘Moneres’, a joint which contrasts booming drum programming with chordal washes taken straight out of the dub-techno playbook.

Fasme & Maelstrom expertly combine machine-funk grooves with deft synth play on the Lotus 48 EP.

For their 4th release LDI Records present the debut solo EP from Texan electro producer Terrestrial Access Network - Distant Lands. The release is drawn from the artist's shifting and hectic nomadic existence around the rattling expanse of the United States presenting 5 original cerebral electro tracks, backed up with a spooked out remix from Delsin Records' Versalife aka Conforce.

Based in Austin, Texas, a city famous for its hyper-vibrant creative musical scene, Terrestrial Access Network feeds from the energy of this environment just as much as the desert that surrounds it. His day to day life involves travelling for near constant work projects - spending days and weeks away from home in what is a hectic lifestyle. In the feelings he channels when writing Distant Lands - he is pulled back towards the energy of the serene and calm landscape while on the road dealing with an unsettled nature of life and his profession.

Terrestrial Access Network began releasing music as recently as 2019 with tracks picked up for compilations on Swiss label Dionysian Mysteries. With a sound that is expert at creating powerfully immersive heads down moments for the dancefloor TAN has driven this EP with an ever present and intoxicating mechanical funk.

Storm Control features three new Plant43 tracks which exemplify Emile Facey’s continuing quest to speak through his machines. The upfront electro of the title track is born out of a yearning for a return to club dance floors while the two on the flip explore deep emotional landscapes through his trademark melodic electro sound.

Kerrie makes her CE debut with the first of two EPs for their vinyl-only sister label, Cultivated Electronics Ltd.

Originating from Ireland, Kerrie made a move to the UK in 2010 settling in Manchester. She soon joined Eastern Bloc Records, spending her time behind the counter selling records before moving into the role of events coordinator in 2017. Honing her DJ skills through a residency at Eastern Bloc, Kerrie has gone on to be a regularly booked act for some of the UK & Ireland’s most prestigious underground club nights and recently made her Berlin and NYC debuts.

After a few of years of producing in the box Kerrie made a move to a hardware-only set-up in 2014 and since then has also taken her analogue live shows on the road to various events and festivals including Freerotation and The Warehouse Project. In 2017 she released her first track for I Love Acid’s 10th anniversary compilation, with a follow-up EP for them in 2020. She has also released an EP on Semtek’s inimitable Don’t Be Afraid and has recently started her own label, DMF with a string of releases lined up for this year.

‘We Continue Part 1’ is defined by Kerrie’s organic production style across its four tracks, bridging the gap between raw, driving tech and twisted electro with acid flourishes, tough beats and dark bass notes.
