Serving up another release by one of techno’s prominent names, DGTL Records brings new music to the forefront with Deniro (@deniro1985). The acclaimed techno artist is the moniker of Reynier Hooft van Huijsduijnen, known for his subtle and precise use of melody and rhythm in an intriguing fashion. Having been associated with the festival since 2019, the Dutch DJ/Producer has played at their ADE, Amsterdam and Digital DGTL editions. The 4-track EP titled ‘Identifier’ is set to release on March 26th.

The EP’s opening track ‘Identifier’ is governed by gravity defying synth lines with a groovy drum running through the track. It’s signature to Deniro’s pull and push style, which has garnered the attention of several industry greats - ranging from Nina Kraviz, ROD and Hunee (to name a few). The remix by Marcel Dettmann (@marceldettmann) makes for a stellar match, complimenting the original mix with a short, tougher re-imagination of the track. The German DJ/Producer is a familiar face on DGTL’s stages, in addition to being one of the most influential figures of contemporary techno in his own right.

‘Infrared’ is the third track on the EP and invokes a powerful groove and energetic synth jabs with darker undertones. It’s straight to the dancefloor with this one, melding fast arpeggios and 909 drums with fierce rhythm and racing percussion. The track is reminiscent of peak-time techno, and blends perfectly with the overall theme of the EP.

True to its name, ‘Sunset’, the closing track on the EP, is distinctly melodic in nature. Playfully balancing it’s more percussion heavy counter-parts, the Detroit inspired track delivers you straight to Deniro-land - with no shortage of synth sounds and pads. The build-up of the track is defined by a steady rhythm and laid-back groove, laced with atmospheric and dreamy elements.

Infinite Machine is happy to welcome interdisciplinary artist, Forces, to the IM family with the release of Inertia, Joonas Siren’s fifth album since he began putting out music in 2018. With previous cosigns from Aphex Twin, Zuli & Daniel Ruane, Forces is known for creating sharp digital textures and ever-surprising rhythmic structures using live coding software such as SuperCollider and TidalCycles. 

With a background in fine art, Forces is never one to shy away from conceptual thinking about his output and this album is no different. Engaging with the work of theorist Franco Berardi (particularly recent book ‘Futurability’), Inertia tries to soundtrack the political malaise of the last few decades and the growing sense of powerlessness and inability to avoid the many crises generated by the structures of capital. 

Forces opens up proceedings with ‘Algorithmic Governance’, where doom-laden bass drones pulse and groan over erratic drum hits which play in alien time signatures, outside of the realm of full, human comprehension. The algorithmic control of the track’s title could refer to Franco Berardi’s interest in social media, a force which simplifies and monetises social communication, or it could refer to his approach to co-creation with his software of choice. With many compositions, Forces sets up rules or parameters in his code but allows elements of randomisation and evolution, inviting SuperCollider’s algorithm to become a co-author alongside him.

‘Morphogenesis’ begins life as a straight-forward, hard techno composition but things are not as simple as they may first seem. Over its 5 minute duration, the stable 4/4 beat seems to collapse in on itself, potentially nodding to the mood of our current socio-economic moment. This is followed up by the formidable ‘Swarm’, a masterclass in algorythmic synthesis that’ll slice your brain in half on first listen. A stuttering of buzz saw-styled synth tones sweep, stretch and pitch bend themselves in ways that would be almost impossible to achieve within a classic DAW. 

Named after the Berardi book that inspired Forces, ‘Futurability’ takes things in a slightly softer direction. Reminiscent of early Tim Hecker releases (with an added cybernetic edge), ‘Futurability’ has a sedative yet uneasy tone to it, as if the song is reflecting the dual sense of concern that things should change in society but our helplessness to actually change them, especially in the ecological or economic arena.

A tale of two halves, ‘Soul at Work’ starts out as a blissfully serene piece of what you could describe as code-based shoegaze which is then chewed up and spat out by algorithmic distortion and disorientating glitches from the midway point onwards. 

Forces ends Inertia on a more hopeful note with the David Graeber-sampling ‘Horizon of Possibility’. Unlike ‘Soul at Work’, the lush drone work is left intact on this arrangement - maybe signaling the potential existence of different structures that are more positive and robust for all.

With Inertia, Forces pushes his singular musical style even further, to more hyperbolic and emotive heights. Embracing the eccentric randomness of the SuperCollider software and working in concepts from contemporary theorists, this album is a mediation on the current moment created alongside technology that also feels hyper-relevant to today.

With the double compilation “Infinite Summer: Ekstase & Fantasi”, katharsis celebrates the return of raves and concerts to society after a long period of pandemic shutdown. A magical summer has past filled with a great pallet of emotional material, ready to be expressed. Therefore, we encouraged a collection of artists we adore to channel their imagination of the greatest way to conclude an endless summer night with into a piece of music.

This resulted in a grand assemblage of harmonious manifestations, naturally splitting into two divisions with opposing focuses. In contrast to the first part of the duology “Ekstase”, which focused on euphoric and dancefloor-oriented outputs, this second part “Fantasi” has a more serene and introverted focal point. The majority of the tracks seem to be meant to stop time in deep reflection with a placid sunrise as the backdrop, exemplified by the purgative opener “salomé” by Aestum, but the listener will find occasional rhythmic outpourings like the unhurried clubby vibes on awbluu’s “Rosalyne (Voxen)” or the beautiful melodic “we will get where?” by Beham.

Club Late Music & Over My Body team up for a joint release! Welcome Apex Union, a split EP featuring Bungalovv & Lujiachi with remixes by B E N N, Dj Animebby, DJ Würm & jondu.

The release initiates the new CLM collaborative series called SPLIT - a simple format where one member from the Global URL Nation shares an EP with an artist from another label or collective, and also marks the first official collaboration of young Taiwan-based Over My Body with another label! This joint collab is pretty straightforward : two artists, two tracks each and remixes by members of both collectives. 

Over the past few years, Bungalovv and Lujiachi have affirmed and cultivated unique sonic palettes that seduced local and international scenes alike. Their encounter on Apex Union initiates a dialog, a weaving of their extended footprints where throbbing basses intertwine with piercing noises, sharp percussions and spiraling voices - resulting in four tracks that will shred, tear and enchant the firmest minds and the stiffest bodies.

The original tracks are reinterpreted by B E N N & jondu from the Over My Body roster, as well as Dj Würm and Dj Animebby from the GUN community, extracting the core essence of the originals to infuse them with raw flavors, that will perfectly soundtrack the haziest cave raves and bleakest winter nightwalks.

Scorpio Red is pleased to announce the release of Zeynep Ağcabay’s second EP, out on the 7th June 2024.

The Turkish born, London based artist’s 4-track release ‘Memories from the Future’ re-frames memory as a non-linear plane of time: visions and sounds collected from “memories” that are yet to occur but feel already lived. An effort to merge her self-titled spiritual folk project with her former ambient pop moniker mea0u, ‘Memories From The Future’ evokes a cyclical, nostalgic and trippy dream sequence. Distorted vocals, a nod to heavy exposure to Western pop influences, meet with samples of Turkish Ney flute and percussion reminiscent of "home".

Cradle of Aeons is an awakening of ancient echoes through sound. Inspired by the timeless legacy of the civilizations that shaped humanity, with a special tribute to the Amazigh spirit, this collection unites the past and the future in a ritual of frequencies.

Darkpsy, psycore and experimental soundscapes converge as hidden symbols engraved in stone, taking the listener through vast deserts, rugged mountains and forgotten sanctuaries. Each track is a fragment of memory, an ancestral code transmitted through vibration, reviving myths that once lived in fire, dance and ceremony.

This is the music like archeology, a sound excavation where the rhythm becomes ritual and the bass lines become enchantments.
