The first Far Blue concept of 2023 is delivered by @boaksi. 

“This mix was recorded digitally and on vinyl in wintery Zürich. It features past and present favourites of mine, as well as future sounds I wish to take the direction of my music into. It is inspired by some of the great memories I had in 2022. I was very lucky to work with many artists that have influenced me for a long time, and I was overjoyed by the moments created together with my friends on project indigo. As 2023 comes around, I hope to continue experiencing these special times.”

A Far Blue concept by boaksi - 'Blossom'

Philipp Priebe is an artist we have discovered not so long ago, but who has become one of our favorites very quickly. His own productions and his recent 'Apparent Calm Palms' album really hit the spot, and we are super excited that Philipp has delivered the very first live set on Far Blue. 

"This live set was recorded around Christmas 22 in my Berlin flat, after I finished the last bigger project of the year. I thought it would be a nice thing to have a set that suits an early festival evening, with an intimate and emotional atmosphere but still working on a house/dub techno floor, with Transfiguration hitting the set when the sun is setting down and you could already need a rest from all the dust and sweat around you. Afterwards the day unfolds into the night, as the set does as well. It ends with a new track, called Fever Dreams with a slightly theatrical note, wishing you well and waving goodbye until then."

Joining us this month is one of the most consistent producers around at the moment. In the past six years Alex has been releasing exciting material through local Stockholm labels such as Abdulla Rashim's Northern Electronics, Bossmuik, and Aniara Records which put out his first record back in 2010. Aniara Records is also responsible for putting out the majority of his output as one half of Genius Of Time, the irresistible DJ/Live act he formed with his good friend Nils Krogh but the duo's punchy releases also found a home on Clone's Royal Oak and Gerd Janson's Running Back. The past two years have seen him focusing primarily on his solo output as Dorisburg and his most ambitious project to date arrived earlier this year on John Talobot's Hivern Discs in the form of the Irrbloss LP.

Today he's prepared a very special mix of mysterious and rare hypnotic House cuts which he recorded straight to cassette through a studio console and analogue outboard. He told us the mix is for "late night internet exploring...something to get lost within while browsing the unknown corners of the web... or possibly what a rave could sound like on an abandoned space station". El proyecto musical ATEQ (Florian Lepa) está marcado por suaves y recurrentes ondas de bucles electrónicos perfectamente integrados entre sí mientras se arrastra hacia su clímax.

Siendo uno de los veteranos del sello Giegling, fundado por Weimar, sus 12 "y más contribuciones V / A fueron publicadas en la impronta del colectivo. Todo lo cual demuestra el sonido de ATEQ con motivos increíblemente profundos y potentes, manteniendo una esencia melancólica.

Diversos esfuerzos de colaboración han manifestado la habilidad de ATEQ para interponerse entre el house y el techno dentro de paisajes sonoros minimalistas. Además, un show en vivo reciente junto con el virtuosismo de percusión de Samuel Rohrer ha explorado los reinos del jazz y el ambiente de vanguardia.

No es de extrañar que ATEQ haya valorado mantener fuertes lazos y, mientras realiza una gira mundial con su actuación de DJ y Live, también ha desarrollado una residencia y una estrecha alianza con Bassiani de Tbilisi.

Se puede decir que se ha creado la profunda base de ATEQ; Sin embargo, aún no se ha desarrollado a dónde llevará este viaje

German record label Giegling was born out of a mutual passion of music from a collective of friends and producers who originally set out to arrange parties in an abandoned building in Weimar for their friends. After their venue was demolished in 2008, the collective continued to make use of the Giegling brand they had formed and opened up their own vinyl only label focusing on the deeper realms of house and techno.

This mix was recorded by Ateq, a member of the Giegling collective, who will also release the labels 13th record, which features in this mix. Florian's mix is aimed to represent his personal perspective of the overall Giegling sound. In the interview we discuss the origins of Giegling and the people behind the label. We also discuss Giegling's relationship with Kann Records and the labels approach to hand crafting original artwork for their releases.
