Introducing Mellon, Maksim Khudiakov, a Russian producer now based is Belgrade whose work draws on Dub, Jazz and classic Hip Hop influences.  Mellon’s latest EP, Brutalism, sees these influences gathered and shaped by personal touches; atmospheric textures and dextrous rhythms sit across 4 tracks that balance playfulness and brutality. The release marks another potent step forward for Sudo Sound and Mellons impressive Discographies. 

Also included in this release is a collaboration between Mellon and Dub Head. Hailing from Kiev, Ukraine, Vitalii, known as Dub Head, is a founder of Cybernetic crew with releases on Transparent Audio, Sofa Sound, Sauce Recordings & Dispatch; he is devoted to creating a unique and captivating sound in the world of Drum and Bass and beyond. His link-up on Mellons latest project brings 'Allergy' to the release, another example of why Dub Head remains one of the front runners in the scene.

For our 2nd upload we welcome Rogue Cuts family member @matt-laundro. Laundro has a debut album coming soon with label 'Nostro Hood System', and there's no better way to tide you over in the meantime than this tune. On 'Cave Level' he wields wonky synth lines as well as he does chopped up break samples. At 127 bpm, this track is a welcome addition to any club DJ's USB stick.

Annoyingly talented in basically every way (except for knowing how to use an Allen & Heath mixer), Fellony’s boundless enthusiasm, curiosity and integrity sets him apart from pretty much everyone when it comes to actually LISTENING and honing in his sound and not just making a noise for the sake of it.. Cultivating a rich TAPESTY (that’s right!) of murky subs, ice cold perc slabs and what I can only assume is about 20 litres of Monster energy drink a day, because who can be THAT positive with music so dark!?!?! If you thought Mala in Cuba was a masterpiece you’re in for a treat! Because hopefully you’ll release that record was whack and you should listen to Fellony instead 8)

To fill that gap, Shell Tapes is back with friendly selections and even friendlier selectors. Restarting the series and logging the fifth tape is the inimitable Wil Bixler. 
A cornerstone at the Perth institution that is RTRFM, (youthful) veteran of the WA and Australian scene and mentor and mate to many, he’s presenting eighty five minutes of choice new releases, so hold tight for a slick and eclectic ride that runs through hazy hip-hop, all the way through to manic jungle and beyond. Yosh!

20 rotations around the turntable later, we arrive at another Friday and another Shell Tape. This edition comes straight from cyber space, delivered swiftly by the extremely talented I33A (pronounced eye-three-three-aye for all you linguists out there).

Step out of our current world and into a high octane mechanical footrace replete with neon icicles, glassy metallics and bone crunching percussion. In just under an hour I33A traverses a soundscape reminiscent of laser fight on a futuristic autobahn - but like, one where everybody is a hell good dancer.

Cutting edge low end sounds rub shoulders with mutant grime instrumentals as twisted techno chops it up alongside experimental cosmic dancehall sonics. Limber up, stay strapped and get down, 'cause this one is large.

Much love to @n-obezg ! The Zagreb-based producer is also a DJ, a radio host, a film and theatre composer, aaaand a promoter. Last year he made his first appearance on the global club scene with the track Cistern, released on the Italian label Early Reflex. 2021 will see him releasing two EPs, exploring traditional Southern Slavic music through a compressed, contemporary cinematic sound palette.
