ST-76 is out; leaving his mark on the series the inimitable James Jovanoski with “Moving, Effortlessly”.

Have you ever watched someone do tai chi? Watched them closely? There's an ease to the kinetics that can mask layers of refinement and hours of practice. Concentration, mindfulness, blissful mindlessness - they all meld into what appears to be one string of motion. Strung together with care, elastic and elating and relaxing, James Jovanoski’s edition to the Shell Tape series does just that.

Pillowy bass excursions, slo-mo alien acid grooves and steamy atmospherics fit for a post-dystopian wellness retreat spread themselves across this hour long recording; a slow and easy spiral down into an increasingly twisty and tripped world. The re-entry into the fast pace of the rat race (or at least it’s tripped sonic counterpart) isn’t one you’ll notice though. Like the title says, this mix just moves, effortlessly, until it reaches its logical exit point.

Jovanoski goes deep on this one, no doubt about it. Tape 76 moves through the night like a neon behemoth, muted glow lighting the corners of your mind in all the right spots. It might not be tai chi but it's just as enjoyable to witness.
