CROSSOVER MIXTAPE PT. 1 (2007)

As most of you should know already – I am very interested in all different styles of music. I decided to make a mix dedicated to one of the most important chapters in music history: The Beatles!

It took me more than 20 hours of watching DVD´s – the whole Beatles Anthology box-set (big up my partner in crime Fab) plus 3-4 more documentaries and live shows just to look for all the samples and skits between and on most of the tracks. Well, it was very interesting to learn so much about the most influential band in history. Screaming girls, packed performances and a rock ‘n’ roll life in combination with a very smart business plan behind it, the Beatles had it all when they were at their peak in the 1960s. With more than 40 different No. 1 hits and more No. 1 albums than any other UK band (with a total of 15), The Beatles proved, award-wise, that they were at the top of their rocked-out game…

I decided to make this mix 2 years ago  (it´s not a typical mixtape) in honor of this great group – exactly 40 years after they broke up in April 1970.

A few friends pushed me to follow up on the 80s mix I did a few years ago. But I decided to take a closer look at what happened in the 90s. 

Unfortunately a few songs I´ve used to do this mix are incredibly bad... :) 
I tried to spice it up with a few of my favorite movie quotes of epic flics and tv shows such as Seinfeld, American Pie, There´s something about Mary, The Simpsons, The big Lebowski or Pulp Fiction.

If you wanna know why The Verve made only 1000 bucks with their international smash hit "Bittersweet Symphony" and what the real message behind the Spice Girls hit "If you wanna be my lover" was  - you should join me on a journey through this decade.

What´s cracking´?! The 90s Edition - Pop, Rock, Dance, Hip Hop and whatever… and you should now the deal already - don´t take it toooo serious. It´s all about being creative and having a good time, right?
