Szaio is the anagrammatic alias of Toronto based Polish Canadian production designer turned musician Zosia Mackenzie.

Her debut album, Obraz (Portrait), initially began as a series of GarageBand sketches created over a month in the attic of her grandmother’s home in Warsaw.

Upon returning to Toronto, Mackenzie and her partner John O’Regan went to work in their home studio, swapping sounds and sequences with their Roland TR-909 and Juno 106, Sequential Circuits Prophet 600, and Soviet-era Formanta Polivoks.

Friends, neighbours, and dub techno pioneers Mark and Matt Thibideau provided additional ear candy, layers of vintage rack effects, and full frequency analog mixdowns for each of the album’s six songs at Repair-Lab Studio. Mastering and cutting was provided by Stefan Betke (aka Pole) at Scape Mastering in Berlin.

Pressed on gold 12″ vinyl and available in limited edition via Amsterdam’s Bordello A Parigi (as well as Mackenzie and O’Regan’s own Joint Account imprint in North America) Obraz represents a new and distinctive chapter in both Polish and Canadian electronic music.

When she struggled to define her place in the world; when existential questions continuously circled her mind; she came here and sat in silence. The marbled room was as high as it was vast. The space was decorated with regal statues and innate sculptures, while beautiful paintings adorned the walls from floor to ceiling. In the centre a single bench offered a view of the entire space, and it was here she would sit for hours, focusing on the present, not the future. 

As well as being one of the minds behind Lyon's Hard Fist Records, Tushen Raï has stamped his style on productions for Tom Tom Disco, The Magic Movement and Esthetique; solo, as a remixer and alongside musical partner (and fellow Hard Fist co-founder) Cornelius Doctor. Now he's embarking on his first solo EP 'Drum Circles', a sonics meditation on 'an imagination weakened resulting from the cultural globalization.' A homage to diverse cultures, practices and belief systems, the trance-inducing tracks blend a melting pot of influences and sounds, motivated by curiosity and an open-minded approach.

Para su primer EP en solitario, Tushen Raï ha diseñado un disco en forma de un colorido mosaico de sonidos, un meticuloso collage de samples, ruidos circundantes y sintetizadores. Aquí, la percusión maorí excavada en discos de grabación de campo de finales de los años 60 y 70 se encuentra con los cantos indonesios grabados en teléfonos y publicados de forma anónima en internet. Un testimonio nostálgico pero profundamente contemporáneo de una imaginación debilitada como resultado de la globalización cultural.

Con "Drums Circles", Tushen Raï quiere reconectar con las novelas de aventuras, desde Jules Vernes hasta Barjavel, que nutrieron su infancia. Pensado como una oda a la diversidad de nuestras culturas, nuestras prácticas y nuestras creencias, "Drums Circles" es un grito a favor de la amplitud de miras y la curiosidad. Es una invitación al descubrimiento más que a la conquista.

Este trabajo es Una humilde invitación a emprender un viaje y al trance colectivo.

While we were finishing the last details of this release, we read with astonishment in the news that a group of scientists was able to take the first photograph of the black hole that exists in the heart of the milky way. This has raised many questions that we usually find in science fiction. What are they? Are they the portal to another dimension? Are there other dimensions beyond known space-time? The truth is, we don't know shit about this. But the first thing that came to mind, as we laughed through thick clouds of smoke and listened to the final mastering of 'Sticker Shock', was: where did these guys come from? This sound has to come from another dimension. There is no other explanation.

We are more than psyched to introduce you to our reference number 044 “Sticker Shock” produced by Zillas On Acid.
Thomas Roland and James Weissinger were born and raised in Philadelphia (or so they say) and in recent years have built a solid catalog with different appearances in Optimo, Les Disques de la Mort, Multi Cult and Dischi Autunno, among others.

This EP has unique assembled layers and planes. The songs are at the same time fun, psychedelic and deep, mixing slow-motion death disco, dubbed-out drum machine music, and of course ACID to get party people on all planets pumped.

On the remix side, the great German Tolouse Low Trax offers us a robotic, kraut and freaky-funk reinterpretation of the song that gives the album its name. And last but not least, label boss Martin Noise join forces with talented young producer DELLA to create a groovy and percussive madness version of ‘Paper Party’

This is the first single from the new Headman album. The track features vocals by Silver Jan and a remix by Zillas on Acid. It’s the first new material produced since the self-titled Robi Insinna mini album and SASM, the new band project with Douglas J McCarthy from Nitzer Ebb, released on Industria in 2018.

Robi Insinna has been releasing music since his debut in 2001. At the same time he started Relish Recordings, with the aim to re-create a vinyl label similar to the records he was buying at that time, obscure post–punk, new wave and disco records. Very inspired by the British Balearic scene and the Italian afro scene, he created Manhead as an opposite to Headman. The trademark Bass was always very present in Headman production.

This time Robi Insinna decided to work again under the Headman moniker. The single has a kind of NYC 80’s vibe, which is pretty much what the music was always about, strong retro raw edge funk machine driven sounds. The use of analog equipment, synthesizers, bass and loads of outboard gear is a trademark of Robi Insinna’s production. Saying that, the idea is not just to copy the past, but to take influences from it to create something new.
Zillas on Acid rework the track into a slow-driving techno chugger, taking it in a darker and more sinister direction.

No Surprises is a funky new wave track echoing the optimism of past decades.

Nicola Conte & Nico Lahs return with their eagerly awaited second EP, continuing the musical journey they began with their acclaimed 12” Macumba de Oxalà / La Danse De L’Esprit.

This new release confirms the creative synergy between two producers who speak the same musical language: a refined blend of spiritual jazz, Afro-American rhythms and electronic sensibility, designed for the most eclectic and sophisticated dancefloors. The Tema Due project is aimed at a refined club scene, attentive to the depth and purpose of sound. Once again, Conte and Lahs are turning the dance floor into a ritual space, where body and spirit move in harmony in a musical language that not only entertains but also elevates.

In this “EP2”, Nicola Conte and Nico Lahs collaborate for the first time with the talented young Brazilian percussionist Gabriel Prado and consolidate their long-standing partnership with pianist Pietro Lusso, who plays a fundamental role in shaping the musical identity of this work. Among the tracks, “Share Your Love” stands out in particular, interpreted by Brazilian singer Nina Miranda, who brings emotional depth to a track that talks about peace, sharing and love between peoples, and is enriched by the participation of Giovanni Guidi on Fender Rhodes and synths.

“EP2” precedes the release of Tema Due’s full-length album, which is currently taking shape – a work that promises to further consolidate the duo’s shared vision, expanding their conceptual and sonic scope. To crown this creative cycle, the album will also be followed by a third EP with additional unreleased tracks, symbolically closing a trilogy of sound and vision. A coherent, intense and uncompromising musical journey, where club culture meets spirituality and artistic exploration.
