Sydney's Retiree have returned with a second offering, 'Jan', out now on Plastic World. Following on from their first single 'Continental' released late last year, 'Jan' features the band's signature dreamy vocals and 80's like drum beats. Whilst maintaining an air of tropical warmth, the song's vocals, depict a story of loss. Contrasting the immersive, upbeat melody against the hidden emotional meaning see's Retiree delve further into a sonic exploration of electronic-pop music.

"Jan is a melancholy song in disguise. I started writing it on a train from Germany to Amsterdam on my way to my uncles funeral. The whole song is sort of equal parts reflective, sad and celebratory" – Retiree

T. Evann is a London based composer, who’s been active on the burgeoning local pop and songwriter scene. Recently supported on streaming platforms editorial playlists, Dummy Magazine and pushed on Danger Mouse’s Jukebox, it’s a steady act on the rise.
 
'Clearer', a new single from his soon to release 'Headblush' EP, was the song written after a short period of writer's block. After this time had passed, there was a burst of creativeness that was greater and clearer than the previous - making these stagnant stages a healthy process to go though. Something that artists can often forget about.
